Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Senior Engineers, Technical Support located in Overland Park, KS will conduct and oversee testing of software products using

prescribed testing procedures and plans.

  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct detailed procedures and record results of tests and maintain records of testing;

  • Alert engineers/analysts to problems in the software or hardware;

  • Conduct a wide range of quality-control tests and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements;

  • Execute the most complex tests according to plans and scripts, document problems in an issue log and retest software corrections to ensure problems are resolved;

  • Create test data files with valid and invalid records to thoroughly test program logic and verify system flow;

  • Draft and revise more complex tests plans and scripts;

  • Identify, recommend and implement changes to enhance the effectiveness of quality assurance strategies;

  • Coordinate activities of the test team and monitor project schedules and costs;

  • Partner with commissioning and integration deployment teams for new site builds;

  • Implement various IP and microwave backhaul topologies, including necklace, ring, hub-n-spoke, etc.;

  • Develop backhaul network device configuration scripts;

  • Troubleshoot sites that do not pass integration testing and drive failure resolution;

  • Assemble site specific CIQ source data to auto-generate backhaul network device configuration scripts;

  • Oversee provision network elements in database tool and applicable Element Management System as needed;

  • Ensure microwave radio configuration MOPs are implemented correctly;

  • Complete Spirent QScope RFC 2544 connectivity tests to actualize backhaul acceptance tasks;

  • Perform prerequisite tasks needed to ensure that backhaul is ready and accepted;

  • Support field implementation and perform troubleshooting efforts;

  • Escalate client problems according to established procedures and exercise judgment in the process;

  • Prepare, report and review test results and Methods of Procedure (MOP) documentation; and

  • Plan and lead network maintenance windows.

Skill requirements:

Requires experience in each of the following:

  • Large-scale service provider Carrier Ethernet and/or core IP networks; with service provider routing and/or transport architectures, including knowledge of commonly used network hardware vendors such as Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson, Dragonwave, and Ceragon;

  • Software development and scripting;

  • Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS (LDP/RSVP), High Availability (VRRP/HSRP/GLBP), Multicast (PIM/IGMP), QoS, HTTP, SSL, VOIP;

  • Planning, designing, and implementing complicated service provider architectures and applications;

  • Large-scale network capacity management, modeling, and network troubleshooting;

  • Interfaces with 4G and 5G radio and baseband; and

  • Level 3 plus knowledge of Nokia and Ericsson Radio eNB software and hardware.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.
