Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Sr. Engineers, Systems Designs located in Herndon, VA will research, design, plan, develop and/or evaluate new, advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design for projects of highest complexity and multiple technologies.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Validate new LTE/5G RAN ENM software loads for LAB, CD and FOA, which includes regression testing and Validation for all major releases, emergency Corrections and patches.

  • Perform LTE/5G RAN Testing (including LAB, CD, and FOA ) to primarily work on development of test strategies, test requirements, test planning, test case design, test environment configuration, test execution, issue root cause analysis, issue resolution validation, and test reporting;

  • Provide in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality. Review detailed LTE/5G design, and participate in test strategy development.

  • Develop a test requirements matrix, test cases, and define test environment.

  • Work with all required T-Mobile and vendor personnel to ensure FIT cluster and environment is implemented to specifications and define and request test equipment and test devices.

  • Log all issues, work with vendors to isolate root cause and validate issue resolutions.

  • Collaborate with LTE Radio Access Network (RAN) architects, developers, testers, lab personnel, FIT personnel, and engineering staff and vendors.

  • Perform field test and validation in Radio Access Networks, Macro, Pico and Femto, LTE (TDD and FDD).

Specific Skills Requirement - must have educational or professional experience in:

  • Experience (1) Experience with Macro and Mini-Macro LTE/5G Network optimization and performance in improving overall network quality and customer experience.

  • Experience (2) Experience with OSS Platforms of Netspan, Ericsson OSS, Samsung LSMR, or comparable tools to validate OSS performance quality and add new features to enhance end user experience.

  • Experience (3) Experience with DAS tuning, optimization, and special event monitoring to perform small cell support and enhance performance to improve network coverage and capacity.

  • Experience (4) Experience with RF Tools including XCAL, XCAP, Map-Info, MCOM3g, ITK, BO, Windcatcher, Actix Analyzer and Spotlight, TEMS Investigation, TEMS Discovery, Amos, Mo-Shell, WNCS,Mentum Planet or comparable tools for quick and efficient processing of data for better understanding and resolving network related issues in a timely manner.

  • Experience (5) Experience with data collection in field drive testing and post processing of logs for troubleshooting.

Experience and education requirements:

  • PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related, and three years of relevant work experience.

  • ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related, and five years of relevant work experience.

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
