Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Senior Engineers, Software located in Atlanta, GA will assure improvement to the quality of the data and delivery for financial and analytics data platforms through leadership, influence, cross-functional collaboration, and business engagement in the development and operations of the Data Quality Product (DQI).

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical and thought leadership in a collaborative, cross-functional Azure Cloud Prod Dev environment.

  • Provide direction and assistance to the development of the full-stack Product DQI including JavaScript front end UI, API interfaces, Java React coding, Ataccama Workflow management (BPA), and the Backend Azure SQL database and the Azure environment which manages the lifecycle of controls to detect and correct data quality issues as managed by the customers in EDS P&T and the business.

  • Communicate and assist with specific, actionable direction to Project Managers, Architecture, Development, Test, and Application Support teams to assure projects do not yield business specific or fragmented solutions, and address appropriate Data Quality and Supportability concerns.

  • Evaluate and manage the product that executes audits of data and processes that pose risks to quality and the BI ecosystem, and provide multiple viable options for mitigation of such risks through repeatable processes in the product DQI.

  • Consult and participate in deep dives into complex technical issues, their root causes, and their solutions.

  • Provide specific feedback on data, design paradigms, and implementation approaches that are problematic from data quality, data usability, timeliness, and performance perspectives.

  • Assist with designing, implementing, and engaging Data Governance processes and teams to assure smooth process operations, quality data, and proactive data quality.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced team members.

  • Foster a more cohesive Culture of Quality across T-Mobile through engagement with EDS and Business partners.

  • Involve in the identification and root cause analysis of data or process anomalies, and follow up with DevOps, Architecture, or Data Governance teams for issue resolution.

  • Consult with EDS BI Individual Contributors, Principal Analysts, Architects and Solution Owners, all levels of EDS Management, Business Stakeholders, and Risk and Compliance (both Finance and IT).

  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Skill requirements:

  • (1) Performing advanced Diagnostic and Problem-solving skills associated with the structured data environments (Traditional and Big Data). This includes Analysis of Azure Cloud and On Prem Linux environments to make sure that envs have sufficient size, CPU and Memory resources to run the Ataccama One (external purchased tool) and DQi (internal built software) software and Microservices provided by Microsoft on their Azure cloud.

  • (2) Looking for and Patching security vulnerabilities in the various software drivers - Oracle, SQLServer, Cassandra, Teradata, Snowflake, ADLS, Cosmos DB, Postgress, Hadoop Hive, Redis, DynamoDB, Databricks, MYSQL, and others. Patching Java and Linux. Updating Ataccama One (off the shelf tool) software and its configurations in the multi-tenant environment (On Prem, Azure and AWS private cloud).

  • (3) Programming and debugging Java and Ataccama One workflows in the IDE environment (off the shelf software configurations and workflow automation programming). Testing for security issues and finding flaws in software setups including security software.

  • (4) Using SQL and building ETLs in advanced languages including Java and Python. Designing and building solutions in SQL and in Python in conjunction with Data Management activities that assemble the Data Mesh metadata in metadata repository.

  • (5) Working with Cloud in Azure Cloud VM administration, Firewall and access controls. Setting up Azure including Microsorvices and Postgress, Cosmos DB databases. Acquiring new VMs and getting monitoring setup on them as well as firewall access to the assets on prem and in both AWS and Azure private cloud environments and testing debugging access issues. Working with cloud teams to ensure setup in the environments are complete.

  • (6) Analyzing and transitioning into buildable Agile developed code. Taking and clarifying questions, code written in Java and Ataccama Workflow IDEs.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Applied Computer Science, Cloud Information Systems or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Data Management or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience.

Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
