Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Senior Engineer, Radio Frequency located in Norton, MA will serve as subject matter expert on GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/LTE/VoLTE/NR and emerging technology theory and be responsible for the engineering design and system performance of the GSM, UMTS and NR Radio Network.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze performance KPIs and parameters, create engineering strategies for network improvement, and develop testing and validation plans for Ericsson's advanced RF features.

  • Review performance trends, signaling and call flows, propose parameter changes, understanding alarming, working with cross functional teams, including technicians to triage an issue, assess impact of using different models of RF equipment, including Antennas, Radios, to process large engineering data, identify trends, and execute desired engineering strategy for performance improvement.

  • Work with the operations team to troubleshoot site network problems using Ericsson OSS/ENM platform and Call Tracing tools, including UETR/CTR, TrueCall, T-insights and nGenius.

  • Work with RF Engineers to evaluate and resolve complex issues and update databases with resolution or actions taken.

  • Work with Ericsson GSM/UMTS/LTE/NR platforms (including 2G, 3G, LTE and NR OSS) and Ericsson AMOS commands to prepare and execute scripts using MOSHELL and MOBATCH, while applying of SON related features and functionality.

  • Participate in developing internal process used for radio network design.

  • Analyze inbuilding system link budgets, RF propagation plots, and identify opportunities to improve performance.

  • Assess coverage and capacity requirements of the radio network, review cell site design candidates, and prepare justification packages and exhibits for RF testimony at zoning.

  • Provide engineering support to Sales / Customers by responding to customer and employee network related complaints.

  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Skill requirements:

  • Working with Ericsson GSM/UMTS/LTE/NR platforms (including 2G, 3G, LTE and OSS), utilizing Ericsson AMOS commands, and preparing and executing scripts using MOSHELL and MOBATCH.

  • Working with LTE and call flow including SIP messaging to analyze call traces and identify and troubleshoot user and network problems.

  • Analyzing performance KPIs and parameters, creating engineering strategies for network improvement, and developing testing and validation plans for Ericsson's advanced RF features.

  • Assessing coverage and capacity requirements of the radio network, reviewing cell site design candidates, and preparing justification packages and exhibits for RF testimony at zoning.

  • Performing design and optimization of Inbuilding wireless systems by analyzing inbuilding system link budgets, RF propagation plots, and identifying opportunities to improve performance.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.
