Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Sr. Engineers, Radio Frequency is located in Draper, UT will serve as the lead resource for advanced monitoring and review of radio network key performance indicators (KPI) within a market and limited to one OEM vendor platform.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops processes and strategic approaches to problem solving.

  • Devises inter and intra team processes for system performance.

  • Serves as KPI subject matter expert in order to improve network performance.

  • Supervises, monitors, and analyzes statistical network performance data.

  • Collects, processes and reviews drive test data.

  • Works with the operations team to troubleshoot complex site network problems.

  • Reviews data to determine the cause of faulty equipment.

  • Addresses customer and employee complaints received through information analyzer and other applications.

  • Works with RF Engineers to evaluate and resolve complex issues.

  • Updates databases with resolution or actions taken.

  • Serves as the lead resource for coverage, capacity, and performance activities.

  • Defines and develops internal process used for radio network design.

  • Provides capacity planning and growth strategies.

  • Participates with federal, state and local jurisdictions to ensure regulatory and zoning compliance.

  • Leads the development, testing, and validation of RF feature plan proposals.

  • Defines implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies.

  • Leads team in the application of RF principles to performance activities.

  • Serves as lead subject matter expert on existing/deployed technologies.

  • Mentors engineering and technical staff.

  • Hosts training sessions.

  • Provides engineering support to Sales/Customers.

  • Advises management on tactical and strategic issues.

  • Serves as the lead developer and resource for market, regional, and national planning and performance tools (as applicable).

Specific Skills Requirement - must have professional experience in:

  • Utilize extensive 5G/LTE RAN design expertise to deploy Macro/PICO/Indoor/Small cells/DAS network solutions using Mapinfo, TEOCO Asset and Forsk Atoll. Create and maintain appropriate design documentation using RFDS, perform construction document review with Adobe Acrobat Editor, create RNDCIQ for site integration, E911 PSAP validation by updating SLIPED and Lemming and following up by checking RIOT and CBN.

  • Post-launch Voice over NR (VoNR) trials, conducting comprehensive assessments using Netscout and TEMS. Identification of parameter incompliances and 5G device issues, including escalation for resolution.

  • Provide recommendation to market leadership to prioritize CAPEX spending for 5G/LTE new site build based on analysis of network traffic, user density for optimal investment decisions to augment RAN capacity.

  • Demonstrated expertise in LTE and 5G end-to-end optimization for network performance KPIs improvements. Effectively analyzed and enhanced KPIs including data speeds (throughput), drop call rate, access failure rate by tuning parameters, new feature implementation using Ericsson Network Manager (ENM OSS), IMNOS, OneData and Truecall. Collaborating with operations team to fix port-mapping issues, alarm clearing on sites resulting in OPEX saving.

  • Develop KPI performance tracking dashboards using PowerBI and Tableau.

  • Lead small and medium size projects for market wide N1900 deployment, spectrum retunes, parameter changes involving over 500 5G/LTE nodes.

Experience and education requirements:

  • PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related and 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related and 5 years of relevant work experience.
