Job Summary:Under limited supervision, performs one or more of the following activities: configuration management, system administration, security administration, network administration, development system implementation, production system implementation. Responds to issues related to environment, hardware, system, and/or software and implements resolution across technology areas. Supports multiple systems simultaneously, and provides leadership for large project efforts. Provide support or lead activities related to change management, outage management and/or project management.

Job Specific Information: Seeking a well-versed, hands on, Sr Engineering Specialist focused on platform strategy, configuration and governance. This role will support Information Security governance, risk management, privacy and compliance processes requirements as they manifest themselves into various metadata management tools. This role will monitor and report on internal compliance against external regulations and industry standards. Will perform risk assessments, oversight and reporting activities to meet enterprise-wide information requirements and will provide recommendations to address complex issues and guidance to other team members inside the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide expertise and leadership at the enterprise level:

  • Data Lineage and provenance understanding for data utilized by the analytical ecosystem

  • Development and application of sensitivity and privacy rules to data

  • Data stewardship and governance process development

  • Application of QDM methods to ensure continuous improvement mindset is at all levels of data movement into the analytical ecosystem

  • Proactive monitoring and alerting of sensitive data

  • Ability to build strong working relationships across functional teams

  • Ability to lead change with high, positive energy and a strong focus on the mission

Abilities/Knowledge/Skills Considered a Plus:

  • Experience with data catalog tools

  • Familiar with Data Science and Machine Learning (DSML)

  • Python, KSH or other scripting language

  • UNIX based environments.

  • Data cleansing, data quality assessment

  • Data architecture discipline

  • Solid understanding of FedEx data classification methods and rules

  • Cloud platform experience (Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc.)

  • Experienced with the information technology aspects of data collection, organization, and integration

  • Deep familiarity and thought leadership with regard to Data Governance principles such as stewardship, business glossary, data catalogs, data privacy, taxonomy, ontology

  • Experience with design, configuration, and rollout of Data Governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Ab Initio, Purview and others

  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills are required.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Five (5) years work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
