Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks.
1.Analyzes voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
2.Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.
3.Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.
4.Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
5.May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
6.May perform network administration duties.
7.May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
8.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
9.Participates in special projects as required.


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

5-8 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration.

Job Summary This position is responsible for performing assignments requiring service of Collins avionics, avionics systems, telecommunications or computer equipment and systems. The primary functions are to direct or perform; installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and system test and training on site as required in accordance with Collins and customer requirements. The position can additionally be tasked with planning and implementing interfaces between Collins and Non-Collins equipment. May be required to act as on site lead for major field installation or modification programs. Services are performed using Collins approved methods and workmanship standards to ensure optimum equipment operation and customer satisfaction. The Field Service Engineer (FSE) supports equipment and systems of high complexity and advanced technology. Competence is required in utilizing developmental techniques for experimental or prototype equipment and during configuration changes in customer systems including interface with Collins and/or Non-Collins equipment. Job Responsibilities * Provide technical support to field engineers, technicians and product support who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, and/or complex software not related to information technology. * Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. * Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. * Builds productive working relationships internally and externally. Frequent internal company and external contacts. Represents organization on specific projects. * Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would normally require a moderate expenditure or resources to rectify. * Frequent use of general/technical knowledge and industry/functional practices, techniques, and standards. General application of concepts, and principles. Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience * Applicant must be willing to travel for extended periods of time. * Applicant must be willing to work second shift and more than 40 hours per week. * Potential exists for applicant to travel to and perform work in a hostile environment. * Applicant must have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level.
