Job Summary

Conduct site assessments to Transocean fleet, including site assessment of station keeping system and marine drilling risers with engineering analysis and technical reports. Carry out work in the areas of naval architecture, deadweight survey and inclining experiments, basic floating vessel stability analysis and motion calculations, and marine issues associated with the fleet and coordinate the preparation and updating of vessel operating manuals. Provide supports to design of marine system newbuild, upgrades and modifications for Transocean's fleet. Review and analyze shipbuilder and vendor submitted documents in compliance with company technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Execute and review site assessment of station keeping and marine riser analysis.

  • Execute and review site assessment of station keeping with regards to mooring analysis.

  • Review and attend Naval Architecture, deadweight survey and inclining experiments.

  • Execute and review design of marine systems associated with station keeping and riser and main well bore components (MPD riser joints), review of orca flex studies, well center space outs and layouts,

  • Review and execute modifications to the marine operations manual in line with rig modifications and upgrades and for new projects.

  • Review stability software inputs and light ship records for operating vessels on an annual basis.

  • Conduct and review station keeping studies and drift off studies as required based on the area of operations.

Education:

  • Major Naval architect / Marine engineering. PE Preferred

Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience conducting studies and analyses using marine engineering and naval architecture principles in mobile offshore drilling units, Experience in operations and mobile offshore drilling unit projects preferred.

Skills:

  • Technical skills in marine engineering and naval architecture are highly required; Must have knowledge of relevant engineering analysis tools, DeepRiser, GMoor, Motion/Hydrodynamic programs as well as the API requirements, ABS and DNVGL requirements and specific regulatory requirements for the areas of operations worldwide. Experience in MODU vessel designs is preferred, Familiar with industry standards, class and regulatory requirements.

Offshore:

  • Requires Offshore travel as required.

  • Knowledge of drilling vessels basic design and layout inclusive of mooring systems, tensioner systems and marine engineering design aspects of offshore drilling vessels

Pre-Requisite/ Qualification

  • Must be eligible to work in the US and be able to work from the Houston office.
