Job Description

Summary

As a member of Microchip's engineering community, your primary responsibility will be to design, simulate, and verify the SerDes PCS (Physical Coding Sublayer) and protocol specific supporting digital logic solutions for an advanced ASIC or FPGA. Microchip's designs are an SOC with various Hard and Soft IP blocks that support a large number of industry standard protocols.

Responsibilities

General RTL and ASIC development

  • Detailed module design, performance analysis and detailed design specification creation

  • Participate in the RTL implementation, synthesis, formality check as well as ECOs

  • Support post-layout timing closure and verification

  • Participate in the investigation & assessment of emerging SerDes/Transceiver technologies & IPs

  • Improve Data & Command processing bandwidth, reduce latencies & increase reliability

  • Support porting the design into test chips and emulation platforms

  • Support pre-tapeout verification and post-tapeout validation/characterization of the system designed

  • Work closely with FPGA support software and FW engineers to resolve hardware issues and customer issues

SerDes PCS Development

  • Design, simulate, and test data encoder/decoders used in SERDES-based designs

  • 8B/10B and similar encoders/decoders

  • 64B/66B, 128B/130B and similar encoders/decoder

  • Data Scramblers and other high speed datapath logic

  • FEC encoders/decoders and associated test logic.

  • Integrate and simulate SERDES-based designs including

  • Developing external interfaces to other parts of the system and/or FPGA fabric

  • Implementing various control/status functions with associated register maps

  • Developing and Integrating AC/DC JTAG control interfaces

  • Develop and/or integrate to industry standard SerDes based protocol logic

  • PCIe, Ethernet, MIPI, SDI, Interlaken, CEI, OTN, CPRI, PON, DisplayPort, HDMI, CoaxXpress, JESD204, USB, RapidIO, Fibre Channel, Optical Modules I/F, etc.

  • SerDes support logic such as power reduction algorithms, OOB signaling, CTLE and DFE calibration, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors/Master's in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven silicon design experience in high speed RTL design of SerDes PCS and SerDes control/status/interface logic.

  • Experience is SOC IP development for SerDes PCS and associated protocols

  • Strong Experience in RTL design, design verification, synthesis & formality

  • Strong Experience in Static Timing Analysis and Verilog simulation tools

  • Should be able to design complex state machines & data path logic

  • Ability to write detailed design specifications

  • Good analytical, oral and written communication skills

  • Able to write clean, readable presentations.

  • Self-motivated, proactive team player.

  • Ability to work to schedule requirements.

Beneficial Experience

  • FPGA and ASIC System On Chip Design Experience

  • Lab Experience for System Level Validation

About the Position: The Machinery Design Engineer is responsible for the design of proprietary high-speed rotating machinery and systems to satisfy the needs of various Air Products Business areas and third-party customers. This equipment enhances the competitive position of Air Products by focusing on meeting customer expectations and optimizing cost, performance, and reliability. Position Responsibilities Include: * Uphold Air Product's safety philosophy for both the workplace and products. * Design new products or improve existing products so that they meet or exceed customers' expectations, are market competitive, and exhibit high reliability and performance. * Product design ownership and system integration from early concept, thru layout, detailed design, review, testing, installation, commissioning and service. * Process design, lubricating and seal gas system design, equipment layout, structural analysis and selection of components to be integrated into equipment packages. * Lead or participate in R&D efforts associated with the design of new equipment offerings. * Perform detailed mechanical analysis (rotordynamics, stress, resonant frequency, thermal, etc.) of proprietary machinery. * Review and approval of detailed manufacturing drawings and BOM's for machinery. * Execute projects with specification and code compliancy requirements. * Perform engineering support of manufacturing, testing, preservation activities, installation, commissioning and field start up. * Interface with suppliers and customers. * Maintain effective relationships with all work team members, suppliers, and customers (both internal and external) to achieve these accountabilities (e.g. working with suppliers to improve manufacturability and reduce cost). * Support continuous improvement and flawless execution. * Execute within budget and schedule requirements.
