The Role: In this role, the Senior Engineer I, Systems Integration will lead and manage full-scale system integration projects. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing complex systems within Moderna's diverse software and hardware ecosystem. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operation and integration of various systems, contributing to the efficiency and scalability of our mRNA technology platform.

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of full-scale system integration projects, ensuring all systems work seamlessly within the existing infrastructure.

  • Develop and maintain integration architecture and standards, including API management and data integration frameworks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research, development, and manufacturing, to define integration requirements and deliver effective solutions.

  • Develop comprehensive integration strategies, documentation, and project plans to support system architecture and deployment.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues, providing technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Implement and optimize automation processes to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and performance.

  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure integration solutions meet business requirements and performance standards.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members, promoting best practices and innovative solutions.

  • Continuously monitor and optimize integration processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance.

  • Document integration processes, system configurations, and architectural designs to support ongoing maintenance and future enhancements.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry standards, and organizational policies throughout the integration lifecycle.

  • Conduct regular system audits, performance tuning, and maintenance to ensure optimal system functionality and scalability.

Here is What You'll Bring to the Table: Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • At least 8 years of experience in systems integration or a similar role, preferably in the healthcare industry.

  • Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects within tight timelines.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or C++.

  • Knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, API gateways, and distributed messaging systems like Apache Kafka and MQTT.

  • Familiarity with databases, system architecture, and networking.

  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and electronic lab notebooks (ELN).

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Experience with version control (e.g., Github) and issue management tools (e.g., Jira).

  • Understanding of regulations and standards for medical device software, including FDA regulations, ISA and ISO 13485. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience or a Ph.D. with academic experience.

  • Familiarity with laboratory operations and programming automated laboratory systems.

  • Experience with automation scheduling/control software.

  • Proficiency in programming and operating robotic systems.

  • Experience with web frameworks like Django, Flask, or Ruby.

  • Knowledge of firmware design and implementation for embedded systems.
