Job Summary:

The Product Design and Packaging (PDP) Team at Raytheon is seeking a talented Sr. Engineer - Electromagnetic (EM) Environmental Effects to join our team in Tucson, AZ.

The Sr. Engineer is responsible for electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC). The candidate should possess experience in this field and have engineering experience with both military and commercial standards, including but not limited to MIL-STD-461E and above, MIL-STD-464A and above, EN5550X, EN61000-XX and FCC Part 15.

Specific areas of expertise will include experience in the design and verification analysis of EMI/EMC, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation, Lightning, EMP and High Altitude EMP, Shielding effectiveness and ESD. Also desirable is familiarity with TEMPEST filter designs and isolation techniques.

This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Provides technical oversight, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate E3 standards.

  • Ensures balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising program leadership.

  • Visible and accountable for E3 technical decisions.

  • Technical engagement with the customers inclusive of requirements, technical commitments, IRAD, future technical needs, etc.

  • Cross-discipline collaboration as E3 engineers interact with Mechanical and Systems Engineering as well as Electrical Engineering.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

  • Education and/or experience with any combination of the following:

  • EMI/EMC analysis design and / or test

  • Experience with MatLab, ANSYS / HFSS or CST Microwave

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in chosen Engineering/Technical field.

  • Currently holds a DoD issued security clearance of Secret or higher.

  • Strong expertise in the field of EMI design methodologies for military applications.

  • Experience in Earned Value EVMS and working TINA compliant proposal activities.

  • Experience and understanding of TEMPEST hardening concepts and Red/ Black separation.

  • Ability to provide detailed documentation related to EMI test plans and EMI procedures and as well as test reports with minimal revision and review.

  • Knowledge of automated EMI test techniques and programming, specifically using TILE.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong customer focus with good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 test techniques.

  • Top Secret security clearance

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
