Job Summary

DATABASE ENGINEER sought by Green Dot Corporation in Pasadena, CA.

Duties: Responsible for the construction, implementation and support of software products that meet established specifications, design criteria, quality standards and business requirements.

Responsible for designing reporting solutions based upon business requirements documentation and architectural designs.

Design and develop reporting models to meet business requirements. Create ad hoc queries to support business decisions.

Create Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS) and/or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) data from transaction systems into the reporting environment.

Support and maintain the reporting and data warehouse solutions. Contribute to matrix teams designing and developing reporting and data warehouse solutions.

Prepare and maintain complete programming specifications, functional design, and both high and detail level technical design documents.

Conduct code and security code reviews. Create deployment scripts.

Perform troubleshooting and analysis to assess root cause of reporting and data warehouse issues.

Maintain a high degree of knowledge on current technologies and tools. Make recommendations to improve operating efficiency and functionality of assigned systems areas.

Provide technical expertise to business areas in understanding the data architecture.

Review and analyze the reporting environment to make recommendations for improvements and/or upgrades. Provide business requirements definition activities and translate them into logical and physical database designs.

Leverage knowledge of current software development methodologies to contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, and developing timelines.

Work with Arch / QA / BSA to establish unit test criteria. Ensure the practice of GDC code guidelines and best practices.

Establish and validate constructed code against unit test criteria.

Participate in projects through the various phases. While in QA phase, he will make corrections to code and update comments/design docs to reflect changes. Provide post production support and other database engineering duties as needed.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience as a Database Engineer, Programmer Analyst, Database Developer or related occupation. Must have software and application development experience performing data analysis; experience with T-SQL and Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS) using Microsoft SQL Server; managing large volumes of data and extraction of data from SQL Server tables; working on decision support system design including ETL, Architecture, Metadata, and Data Access; experience in software lifecycles, software configuration management, and change control; developing, deploying, scheduling, configuring, troubleshooting, and monitoring ETL processes in heterogeneous sources including SQL server, MS Azure DB, Oracle DB, Flat Files, Excel, MS Access, and Hadoop File (HDFS); and designing enterprise reports for OLTP and OLAP systems including Drilldown, Drill Through, Parameterized Summary, Matrix, and Linked Sub reports.
