Job Description:
Raytheon Industry 4.0 - Smart Digital Factory and Automation (SDF&A) has an immediate career-growth opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Automation Systems Engineer team member to join our Team. As an Automation Systems Engineering team member, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of automation solutions and advanced IIoT / Industry 4.0 technologies in support of manufacturing. The role includes developing physical automation solutions (robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems) and their integration with business systems (primarily using Ignition).
Additionally, this role will merge technical, manufacturing, and business knowledge to drive new innovations across Raytheon. The role has a foundation in controls engineering but offers significant opportunities for growth including developing new automation opportunities, quantifying business value, presenting to leadership, and then coordinating across functions to execute initiatives. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative, diverse, geographically distributed team of engineers and leaders.
This position is Onsite in Tucson, AZ.
Basic Required Qualifications:
Typically requires BS in an Engineering field or the sciences (STEM)Preferred: MS in engineering AND 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations/engineering, systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or automation engineering; or 2+ years with an advanced STEM degree in Engineering
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Experience programming Fanuc Robots
Experience programming Rockwell PLCs
Experience with automation mechanisms, controls, robotics, troubleshooting, and/or vision systems
Qualifications Preferred:
Existing DoD Secret clearance, with ability to obtain (or current active) SSBI clearance
Continuous improvement/growth, quality and analytical mindset
Familiarity with I4.0 and Smart Factory principles, technologies and/or techniques
Professional engineering experience with automation systems
Design Experience using AutoCAD (Electrical Preferred)
Experience with robot capabilities, programming, and implementation
Experience using machine vision systems
Experience developing Allen Bradley tag-based PLC using Studio 5000
HMI Design and Implementation experience using FactoryTalk View, Ignition, or similar software
Experience in control system design and support
Familiarity with NFPA79, NFPA70 (NEC), UL508, RIA Standards
Experience with machine safety, safety assessments, and how to implement appropriate SIL levels.
Experience/understanding of commonly used industrial protocols including Ethernet/IP, CIP, and TCP/IP
Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic parts selection, design, programming and debug
Experience with cyber and/or cyber-physical systems security protocols
Proficient in any of the following: C#, C++, Java, Python, SQL
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Databases
Understanding of SCADA systems, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), and/or IIoT
Strong interpersonal communication (verbal and written) skills and ability to collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated experience in developing and/or strengthening customer relationships
Proven leadership, problem solving and team building skills
Sense of business urgency and drive

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
