GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab9, the world leader in RF semiconductor manufacturing in Essex Junction, VT, is seeking a mid-level semiconductor equipment engineer. The individual selected for this position will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering organization with primary responsibilities focused on support and continuous improvement of 200mm semiconductor equipment in the Furnace and EPI process module engineering area.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in support of tool availability, throughput improvement, cost reduction, and yield learning.

  • Set up equipment performance metrics for monitoring and adjusting according to fab goals

  • Define and execute new equipment installation plans including requirements planning, equipment selection, configuration, and installation coordination.

  • Establish and manage the equipment budget and cost model

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to screen and optimize equipment to meet technology (performance, yield, and reliability) and manufacturing (process stability, cost of ownership) targets.

  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to lead hands on, tactical troubleshooting efforts to resolve long term performance issues; must be able to deconstruct and understand complex systems

  • Collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Maintenance, & Manufacturing teams

  • Collaborate with GLOBALFOUNDRIES integration and process engineering to support development of improved next generation technologies.

  • Support technology transfer to other fabricators.

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technology related Bachelor's degree: Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.

  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Fluent in English

  • 10% travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications
2 years experience as an equipment engineer

  • Experience working with Furnace and/or EPI equipment

  • Knowledge of semiconductor/silicon processing

  • Understanding and knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).

  • Prior experience to working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment.

  • Technology related Masters and/or PHD degree: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or other relevant discipline

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, equipment suppliers, internal and external partners.

This individual will lead a multi-module team of Process and Equipment technicians supporting Ion Implant, Furnaces, RTx and EPI systems for the whole factory. The ideal candidate will have experience managing personnel in a manufacturing environment and work with the broad team to define strategy, vision, and next steps for reducing cost, complexity, and waste. This is a 12 Hour Night – Alternating Work Schedule (AWS) Position Essential Responsibilities: * Daily management of technical resources to maintain equipment used in a semiconductor manufacturing line. * Drive overall equipment stability to meet critical KPI's (net MT, stability, M-ratio). * Daily standard work with team members through shift rounds, provide preventative maintenance management and continuous improvement and in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. * Organize and drive training to address skills deficiencies on the team.
