Sr Employee Communications Specialist

About the role:

The Sr Employee Comm Specialist is a strategist for Boston Scientific Spencer Plant Communications responsible for the planning, development and execution of all aspects of site communications, including internal employee communications, senior management communications support, public relations, media relations, special events and community relations activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and plan creative strategies for engaging employees, the media, and the community by understanding the primary needs of each audience.

  • Plan overall site communication strategy by consulting with management to ensure that all communication executed by the company is aligned with the company's vision, mission and corporate strategy.

  • Plan the direction of internal publications and other media platforms by setting overall goals, philosophies and editorial guidelines to ensure excellence in employee communication.

  • Work closely with management to support senior staff by developing content, offering guidance and planning strategies to implement responses to issues that affect the company, its employees and its standing in the community and industry.

  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategy and activities to ensure communications approach continues to be effectively planned and delivered.

  • Act as communications liaison by serving on multiple teams throughout organization to support the activities of the team and ensure the consistency and effectiveness of communication from the team to their intended audiences.

What we're looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with Senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing communications budget

  • Experience with external advertising (newspaper, radio, social media)

  • Experience working in complex, fast paced, multifaceted work settings setting

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing a communications strategy

Sr Environmental Health and Safety Specialist About the role: The Sr EH&S Specialist supports and reinforces the importance of Environment, Health & Safety in the organization. Implements strategies, policies and practices for the overall Environment, Health & Safety program. Works with the EH&S team to integrate Environment, Health & Safety performance into plant operations. Drives continuous improvement in Environment, Health & Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance. Your responsibilities will include: * Responsible for understanding the BSC EH&S programs to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements. * Participates in Global collaborative initiatives. * Proactively identifies and promptly addresses EH&S issues which may affect operations or may provide strategic advantage to the business and provides input for management review meetings. * Assists with activities for assessing EH&S effectiveness in the organization, including the OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), the Occupational Lost/Restricted Worktime Rate (OLTR) and ISO 14001 environmental performance goals. * Assists with plans to reduce worker injury and lost time rates. * Assists in the development of an effective Safety culture through cross-functional cooperation, communications, promotions and training including employee training on EH&S procedures, industrial hygiene activities, safety surveys, review and revision of local procedures, and serving as a member of the emergency response team. * Participates in the ongoing development and implementation of the Environmental Management System. (ISO 14001). * Responsible for assisting in emergency planning and taking an active leadership role in EH&S emergency situations. Assists in ensuring adequate evacuation and response arrangements are in place for fire, accidents and all other emergency situations. * Works in partnership with other Boston Scientific EH&S professionals to establish or adopt company demonstrated best practices relevant to our industry. What we're looking for in you: Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management or related degree. * Minimum of 5 years' EHS experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial setting. * Experience building and leading teams focused on EHS culture change and continuous improvement. * Ability to work with cross-functional groups and manage EHS programs that impact the entire site. * Knowledge of injury/incident prevention programs (ergonomic, chemical safety, root cause analysis). * Experience conducting risk assessments. * Experience reporting to local, state and federal regulatory bodies (air permitting, wastewater, OSHA) * Experience in compiling and leading training exercises for groups of employees. Preferred Qualification * Master's degree. * DOT Hazardous Materials General Awareness (Title 49 CFR, Part 172, Subpart H) certificate. * Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certificate. * RCRA Hazardous Waste Management (Title 40 CFR, Part 265) certificate.
