Sr. EMC Design Engineer

The objective of the EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) Design Engineer is to design high-end and industry leading networking hardware to meet international regulatory and customer EMC-related requirements in a cost-effective manner and to ensure predictable EMC testing. The EMC Design Engineer engages as early as practical in the R&D cycle to ensure compliance by design and to avoid costly retrofits. The EMC Design Engineer will be typically working on 3-6 projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Review and recommend schematic designs (clock terminations, filters, etc) and components (capacitors, inductors, ferrites, common mode chokes, etc) to minimize EM radiation

• Review and recommend CAD layouts (stackups, trace routing strategies, crosstalk mitigation, etc) to minimize EM radiation

• Review and guide mechanical designs to maximize shielding effectiveness of chassis or enclosures

• Perform 3D simulations using leading EM analysis software (such as CST) and establish correlations in an anechoic or in a reverberation chamber

• Overview EMC testing and debug any failures using EM troubleshooting techniques such as near field probing

• Engage with and provide feedback to Hardware, Power, Thermal, Signal Integrity, Test teams and Program Managers as necessary

• Develop test plans and prototype allocation requirements

• Cultivate good working relationships with customers, external suppliers, test labs and other partners.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

• Successful completion of advanced courses on electromagnetic theory or physics

Preferred qualifications

• Master of Science (MS) in electrical engineering, physics, or related engineering field

• 3-5 years of hands-on EMC design experience with information technology hardware.

Minimum Salary: $159,200.00

Maximum Salary:$228,850.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $159,200.00 and $228,850.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave.
