Position: Sr. Embedded Hardware Engineer

Job Location: 1730 N 1st Street, San Jose, CA 95112

Duties: Develop system and board level hardware to support proof of concept and reference designs for Sony's emerging image sensor technologies.

Gather requirements, write specifications, develop hardware, deliver working systems, and iterate as needed. Test and debug board level hardware design. Develop embedded firmware and software to integrate Sony's image sensor with different microprocessors and CPUs.

Fix existing hardware design issues and software code bugs. Analyze the testing results and modify the design as needed. Hand soldering PCB board.

Design 3D enclosure box for PCB. Design user interface showing data and real-time image for proof-of-concept system.

Minimum education and experience required: PhD or the equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field OR Master's degree or the equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of experience in high speed circuit development, embedded system development, or related experience.

Skills required: Must have experience with:

Schematic capture tools such as Orcad; designing and implementing 3-5 GHz speed circuits and PCBs; designing and implementing power supply circuits; specifying and managing PCB layout and assembly efforts; Low-level serial communication SPI / I2C protocols; Hardware bring-up and debugging of embedded systems; test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; Real time embedded systems concepts; reading and understanding board schematics, datasheets, application notes and other reference documentation. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or experience with the required skills.

The base pay range for this position is $185,000 to $210,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.
