Job Summary

Applies principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing and physics

Job Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of highly complex technical tasks which require a substantial understanding of engineering techniques and all technical objectives. Provide mentoring in the use of an increasingly complex engineering tool set. Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.

  • Perform as member of a technical team utilizing effective communication skills, including leadership role and interaction with higher level leadership and customers. Actively promotes team decision making.

  • Provides technical recommendations for capital, expense and service acquisition.

  • Utilizes automated test or design software. Highly proficient at data analysis using required software tools. Generates programming scripts or macros for data acquisition or analysis.

  • Demonstrates use of resources to enhance job and product performance. Is viewed as a technical resource to others.

  • Conducts engineering tests and analyzes data to support recommended design changes when applicable.

  • Works from minimal documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts and plans often requiring interpretation.

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

  • Applies significant electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, determine solutions and modify electronic product for engineering efforts applicable to the department or program charter. May assist engineers with design and development of new processes and/or products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of an associate's degree, three years of related experience

  • Must possess or be eligible for obtaining a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/re-instatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

Job Summary This position is responsible for service of Collins Aerospace avionics, telecommunications, navigation and/or computer equipment systems on KC-135, KC-10 and/or C-130 aircraft. The primary functions are to direct or perform: installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, system test and on-site training as required in accordance with Collins Aerospace and customer requirements. The position can additionally be tasked with planning and implementing interfaces between Collins Aerospace and Non-Collins Aerospace equipment. May be required to act as on site lead for major field installation or modification programs. Services are performed using Collins Aerospace approved methods and workmanship standards to ensure optimum equipment operation and customer satisfaction. The Field Service Engineer (FSE) supports equipment and systems of high complexity and advanced technology. Competence is required in utilizing developmental techniques for experimental or prototype equipment and during configuration changes in customer systems including interface with Collins Aerospace and/or Non-Collins Aerospace equipment. Previous aircraft systems integration or modification experience preferred. This position is responsible for performing assignments requiring service of Collins avionics, avionics systems, telecommunications or computer equipment and systems. The primary functions are to direct or perform; installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and system test and training on site as required in accordance with Collins and customer requirements. The position can additionally be tasked with planning and implementing interfaces between Collins and Non-Collins equipment. Job Responsibilities * Provide input to engineering for electrical and system design, write aircraft test documentation and be a team member for aircraft ground and flight test events. * Provide technical support to field engineers, technicians and product support who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, and/or complex software not related to information technology. * Installs, operates, maintains, repairs, modifies and loads software on equipment. Normally receives little instructions on day to day work and general instructions on new assignments. Participates in determining objectives of assignment. Plans and schedules own activities in accomplishing objectives. * Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to products in accordance with specific customer specifications. * Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise. Represents organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects and may be part of a cross-functional team. * Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization.
