Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented Electrical/Electronic Engineer with expertise in hardware design to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing mixed signal board-level designs, with proficiency in microprocessor system design, analog design, and switching power supply design. Familiarity with CAD tools such as OrCAD schematic capture and layout is essential. The schedule for this position is 4 days in the office and 1 day work from home and is based in Cary, NC.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • General knowledge of discrete analog electronics including filters, LC and RC networks, active filters, bipolar and FET based transistor circuits.

  • Develop mixed signal board-level designs incorporating microprocessors, analog components, and switching power supplies.

  • Knowledge of basic switch mode power supply operation and component selection for different power level converters. Some level of magnetics knowledge.

  • Utilize CAD tools, including OrCAD schematic capture and layout, for design development and documentation.

  • Conduct design simulations using SPICE tools and mathematical analysis using tools like Matchcad.

  • Collaborate with firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.

  • Utilize lab testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and metering equipment for design validation and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with EMI/EMC requirements and certification processes, particularly in aerospace and industrial applications.

  • Ability to meet stringent EMI/EMC targets through effective layout and schematic design practices.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware design, preferably in aerospace or industrial sectors.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as OrCAD, SPICE simulation tools, and Mathcad.

  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC (MIL-STD-461) requirements and certification processes.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with firmware development and C code is a plus.

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
