Exciting opportunity in Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) as an electrical engineer based in Dallas, Texas with responsibilities having significant impact, recognition, and growth in the organization. The engineer will have responsibility for the design, development, and sustainment of state-of-the-art Transmit/Receive (T/R) microwave functions (modules, TRIMMs, module-less, planar, etc). This position is within Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) division Hardware Engineering Center. The engineer will reside within the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) Antenna Core Products (ACP) department in Dallas, Texas. The HWEC ACP department is responsible for full-scope Independent Design, Verification & Validation (IV&V) solutions for microwave products, including architecture trades, design, layout, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of antenna systems and associated integrated system verification solutions. The engineer will implement best practice standards with regard to the planning, coordination, and execution of microwave design and test with sound engineering process discipline and leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years related work experience and a BS degree, 4 years and an MS, 2 years and a PhD.

  • Design knowledge of transmit/receive functions covering large frequency range (MHz thru Ka-band)

  • Experience in the design, layout, development, test and verification of T/R functions at microwave frequencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and layout tool (AutoCAD, Mentor or other)

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:

  • Design experience leading to production of microwave components

  • Experience using Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Matlab, and AutoCAD

  • Comfortable interfacing with technical engineers and presenting to upper-level management

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Current or renewable clearance

B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Science, Mathematics

Desired Education:

M.S./M.A. or PhD in Engineering

These algorithms require the ability to take advantage of Xilinx/Intel specific architecture features in order to meet requirements in designs that require high-speed, large footprint FPGA components. Furthermore, these algorithms utilize Multi-Gigabit Interfaces such as PCIe and Gigabit Ethernet requiring the ability to implement and test COTS IP cores running on FPGA specific Transceiver components. Senior Designers are also required to develop simulation and lab functional testing in various software environments requiring familiarity with scripting and COTS test software. * Direct experience using the latest versions of Xilinx Vivado and Intel Quartus for FPGA timing closure, placement and routing. * Direct experience using Mentor Questasim for test bench development to verify FPGA requirements in simulation using self-checking test bench methodologies. * Extensive, proven development results implementing complex signal processing algorithms for Electronic Warfare Radar Warning Receivers in FPGAs. * Candidate will join an engineering organization focused on RF Electronic Warfare systems. * Candidate will be responsible for applying advanced technical principles and concepts to architect and develop FPGA designs based on high level system requirements. * Candidate will have the ability to present, explain, and refine architectural approaches in consultation with other product stakeholders. * Candidate will have the ability to determine and follow the course of action necessary to implement finished products based on the architecture developed. * Tasks will include development of Firmware Requirements Specifications for FPGA designs, VHDL/Verilog-based RTL and functional design, timing analysis, simulation, and integration of FPGA designs into hardware and with tactical software. * Extensive experience in developing optimal FPGA architectures based on high level requirements. * Experience with hardware/firmware/software integration and test using FPGAs and embedded processors * Proficiency with VHDL/Verilog for configuring FPGAs * Experience working in a system integration environment, verifying requirements and identifying and correcting defects.
