Position Summary

The Rexnord Innovation Center has opportunity for a senior engineer to join our Advanced Engineering team to be the technical and application subject matter expert for sensor and electromechanical hardware technologies. In this role, the individual will be responsible for leading both strategic and tactical projects that support new product development and R&D functions. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of managing competing priorities, will demonstrate technical expertise with Electrical and Mechanical engineering concepts, and will utilize effective communication, problem solving, and project management skills to deliver on commercial and capability building project commitments


  • Lead planning and execution of development, design, and testing projects to meet internal and external customer objectives and timelines

  • Lead proactive work to influence design decisions for new product development programs

  • Stay abreast of new technologies and recommend industrial and academic partnerships to support current and future product needs

  • Create and lead internal education and best-practice sharing initiatives to share knowledge across globally dispersed teams

  • Communicate key project outputs to stakeholders verbally and through formal written reports

  • Maintain project plans and prepare detailed written project reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders as necessary

Experience and Skill Required

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering field

  • 5 years minimum professional experience (years of advanced degree education will be considered in lieu of years of professional experience)

  • Experience selecting & applying sensors (e.g. vibration, temperature, proximity, etc.) used in mechanical industrial settings.

  • Ability to create software programs (e.g. PLC ladder logic) for data collection.

  • Expertise with controls, logic, automation, and industrial sensor application or development

  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary and cross-functional teams


  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering field

  • Experience working with electrical instrumentation in an industrial setting

  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects that require interaction with cross-discipline teams such as R&D, design engineering, simulation, software, hardware, and system integrators

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Project management experience

  • Experience developing and implementing continuous sensing technologies, such as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

  • Engagement in professional community or academic consortia related to electro-mechanical systems and industrial sensor applications

The Headlines: In the role of Senior Electrical Automation Project Engineer (PM) working in Milwaukee, WI, you will be part of the Technical Services and Support (TS&S) department. You will be responsible for developing, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling capital projects from $500k up to $20M. You will work closely with the Brewery and engineering consultant teams to deliver projects from inception to completion. In addition to the project management, this role will also provide a high-level of optimization support to drive improvements in energy and water consumption. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Electrical, Automation & Controls Design, and works closely with the Integrated Supply Chain operations teams. The Responsibilities: * Provides advanced project management expertise required to execute projects complying with the MillerCoors' project management philosophy (FEL) as well as all of MillerCoors' financial policies. This includes reviewing alternate delivery methodologies; recommending alternative courses of action, determining the resource requirements to successfully execute the approved solution within budget and schedule requirements. * You will work with the Consulting firms and Construction Managers to issue for construction bids, purchase equipment and materials, and begin construction of the project * During Project Reviews, the technical expertise and problem solving skills of the PM/designer, will lead them to identify Value Engineering opportunities to make the project deliver the best solution at the optimal cost to the enterprise, meaning, they should look for opportunities to deliver the same quality results, while minimizing interruptions to operations, and doing so cost effectively * Subject Matter Expertise (Electrical & Automation Scope): In addition to PM roles and responsibilities, you will be assigned as the Subject Matter Expert, supporting the Brewing Design PMs, Packaging Design PM's and Utility Design PM's for all electrical and automation scope on projects. This requires holding periodical meetings for each projects electrical & automation scope, publish meeting minutes, and refine the business case with assigned PM's to be presented through the stage gate process for approval to execute to the satisfaction of the customer * Maintain the forecast of the project expenditure, provide Estimates at Completion, and deliver the project to the satisfaction of the customer The Other Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Chemical / Mechanical Engineering Degree with Electrical Engineering experience. * 10+ years of experience in a sanitary food/beverage production environment, and has a proven track record of achievement in a high speed, high volume packaging or process manufacturing environment * Proven track record in project management and execution * Strong ability to lead projects while identifying value engineering and additional cost savings opportunities * You are confident and competent.
