We are currently searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer (NPD) to join our R & D Team. This role will be performed both on-site and remotely as necessary, but is based in the Greater Twin Cities area at our Chaska, MN headquarters. Please note: There is no relocation offered for this role.
This Senior Electrical Engineer (NPD) is responsible for the design, development, testing, and refinement of electrical systems and tools within the IMRIS solution and portfolio. The successful candidate will provide strong technical leadership in new product development and as necessary assist the cross-functional team with improvements related to currently manufactured products. This individual will be responsible for leading engineering changes, lifecycle changes, and improving performance and reusability of existing electrical systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply advanced electrical knowledge in order to develop, enhance and maintain the electronics for large, complex projects
Design embedded systems, digital and analog circuitry, power supplies and connectivity interfaces
Lead Design Control documentation, Verification and Validation plans, protocols and reports for new EE systems and components in compliance with the IMRIS QMS
Collaborate with Manufacturing to design and develop End-Of-Line production tests necessary to qualify EE subsystems
Plan, prioritize, and complete engineering investigations on existing products including resolution to component obsolescence issues
Investigate non-conforming components and provide response to Request for Information (RFI) queries from supply change management (SCM)
Understand the historical performance of electronics subsystem on the released products and leverage this knowledge in designing / upgrading solution for next generation electronics solution.
Collaborate with Manufacturing to assure successful product transfer in next generation MRI's EE subsystem outsourcing efforts as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required Experience
Minimum of 5 years industry experience as a developer of medical devices with a focus on mixed-signal PCB assemblies, and embedded microcontroller / microprocessor systems. Relevant experience in other regulated industry is equivalent
Experience designing motion control automation for complex low volume durable products
Experience in the electrical design of distributed control systems
Experience in design/development and documenting of circuits, cables, cable harnesses, and shielding in high energy environments
Proficient in prototyping, simulation, debugging and verification of electrical assemblies and electro-mechanical subsystems that meets product performance requirements as well as applicable regulatory standards for EMD, EMC, and safety
Experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing
Able to generate, review and understand formal engineering drawings and documents required for fabricating PCBAs, electrical subsystems, and interfaces and cables
Experience in laboratory instruments and tools (such as DMM, mixed signal oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer)
Experience in using electrical CAD packages and simulators such as Altium or OrCAD for schematic entry and layout
Familiarity with FDA QSR, and ISO 13485 regulations on design controls
Experience with electrical safety standards (e.g. IEC 60601 or IEC 61010 series)
Experience in BOM structuring, test protocol writing, verification testing, quality inspection methodology
Experience with electrical control systems development and feedback control loop
Experience with communication protocols and interfaces (RS-232, RS-485, I2C, SPI, UART)
