Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) business unit is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer to support sustainment activities on a DoD Ground Control System program. The engineer will research replacements for end of life system components, perform trade studies, perform electrical test and checkout of candidate hardware, and will write white papers to document recommended actions. The qualified candidate must be experienced in all aspects of Electrical and Computer system design from requirements through design and test.

The role requires frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques. Candidates are expected to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. Effective communication skills are expected as the engineer will have direct contact with customers to report on program status and discuss technical solutions. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, Selection, and Test of COTS Hardware solutions to meet customer requirements

  • Perform trade studies to determine optimal solutions

  • Work in an engineering lab setting to perform electrical and functional test of selected hardware

  • Maintain lab in accordance with safety, ESD, and FOE guidelines

  • Create deliverable technical documentation to provide solution recommendations

  • Perform design activities within the bounds of a given cost and schedule.

Required Experience:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance (US Citizenship required)

  • Must have experience with COTS Hardware Design and Test

  • Must have experience writing deliverable test procedures and white papers

  • Must have experience adhering to and enforcing proper process in an engineering lab

  • Must have demonstrated ability to function as a hardware test lead

  • Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills

  • Must have strong teaming skills, and good communication skills

Desired Experience:

  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges

  • Experience with military specifications or similar (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464)

  • Design experience with Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) concerns.

  • Design experience with voltages > 400V.

  • Design experience with power > 10 kW.

  • Familiarity with MS Visio

  • Familiarity with PRISM

  • Familiarity with Common PDM

  • Background in generation of Estimate at Completion (EAC),Basis of Estimate (BOE) packages, and project schedules

  • Experience with Raytheon processes and R6Sigma

Required Education:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 4 years of related work experience or 12 years of related work experience in lieu of a EE degree.
