We are seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer for our small team in Kent, Washington to lead, design and test advanced electronics for Horizontal Directional Drilling equipment. As leaders in our industry, we are always using state-of-the-art designs and cutting-edge technology in our products. In this role, the individual must be familiar with Digital and Analog Electronics and be able to translate business requirements into System-level designs for both individual contribution work and teamwork. Further, you must be able to select components, design schematics, layout boards, and help bring up and debug circuits in the lab with the team. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineers, Embedded Software Developers, Quality and Manufacturing as well as numerous 3rd party vendors, suppliers, and contractors.

Requirements

What You'll do:

  • Assume responsibility for Circuit Design, from requirements through Production, and post-Production support
  • Architect System-level Designs and provide implementation leadership and mentorship to team members
  • Design battery-operated systems which make use of both system-on-chip (SoC) and micro-controllers connected to a variety of peripherals and sensors
  • Design, Simulation and Test of complex Analog, Digital and Mixed-Signal systems
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to package electronics in industrial design-driven enclosures
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to transition designs into Production
  • Collaborate with R&D Engineers to rapidly iterate prototypes for next-generation product concepts
  • Manage in-house and out-of-house prototype PCB build process
  • Support the Root Case Analysis of issues with fielded products
  • Collaborate with Compliance team and External Labs to drive new products through certification process
  • Establish partnerships and relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Translate between Engineering and Business Requirements
  • Set context and direction for a lightweight Electrical Engineering team and remove roadblocks

Requirements:

  • 7 - 10+ years' experience in design, test, and validation of complex electrical systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field
  • Expertise in low noise electronic system design
  • Strong experience with the design, architecture, and layout of low frequency and low noise analog front-ends
  • EMI/RFI control and minimization experience
  • Knowledge of FCC and/or other Certification processes
  • Proficiency with the Altium electronics design software
  • Mixed-Signal PCB layout experience
  • Expertise evaluating and debugging hardware using standard engineering laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • RF design experience is a bonus
  • Possess high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills (written and verbal)

Desired:

  • Graduate degree in Engineering or Physical Science
  • MATLAB or similar analysis tools
  • EMI/RFI control and minimization design and testing experience

Compensation:

  • DCI is proud to offer comprehensive compensation packages including competitive base pay and discretionary quarterly profit sharing bonuses to all part-time and full-time team members. Base pay is reviewed at a minimum on an annual basis.
  • Pay range: $133,000-160,600 per year. To ensure equity, our compensation philosophy is to bring people into new roles in the range of the mid-point of that role. Factors considered for pay include the level of skill, experience, training, external market factors, and internal value.
  • Profit sharing bonus: Over the last 3 years, quarterly bonuses ranged between 11% and 27%. Future bonuses could be higher or lower depending on company profits.
