What You Will Achieve

As a Senior EHS Associate, your knowledge and skills will contribute towards the goals and objectives of the team. Your focus and ability to meet team targets will help in completing critical deliverables. Your innovative use of communication tools and techniques will facilitate in explaining difficult issues and establishing consensus between teams. This role is responsible for providing technical subject matter expertise for all occupational safety programs. The incumbent will ensure that the site's safety programs are fully compliant with OSHA rules and regulations and internal Pfizer standards and will partner with operations to ensure colleague safety. They will be responsible for collaborating with EHS Leadership to establish and execute the EHS strategic plan for the site.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Provide expert technical support to Pfizer business areas relative to Process Safety and High Hazard Industrial Safety Compliance.

  • Evaluate existing and new processes/practices. Updates compliance program improvements, associated procedures and creates plans for implementation of improvements.

  • Evaluate capital projects and other site changes identified through change control to assure compliance with safety requirements. These projects could be in Manufacturing (compounding, filling lines (Both Aseptic & non- Aseptic), visual inspection, and packaging of pharmaceuticals) as well as Maintenance, Utilities, Warehouse, and Laboratory environments.

  • Contribute to the completion of complex projects, manage own time to meet agreed targets and develop plans for work activities on own projects within a team.

  • Support manufacturing in safety investigations and owning Corrective Action / Preventative Action to prevent recurrence.

  • Lead applicable related tasks, initiatives, training, and services that adhere to Pfizer Global Environment, Health & Safety Standards, state and federal regulatory compliance.

  • Provide subject matter expert input to regulatory inspections.

  • Conduct routine safety inspections.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance and data integrity requirements.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Engineering or EHS-related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing.

  • Extensive experience in all safety programs.

  • Proven experience effectively communicating and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities.

  • Detailed expertise in the risk management (assessment and implementation of risk mitigation strategies).

  • Safety and IH practitioner with broad technical and regulatory experience who can effectively work with senior management, across multiple disciplines, in a matrixed organization.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

  • Experience in assessing EHS risks, developing and implementing proactive strategies to minimize risks and process deviations.

  • Successfully uses recognized analysis tools to perform risk assessments, investigations, program auditing that result in identifying improvements.

  • Ability to manage projects, is process minded, and demonstrates the ability to build and execute action plans to ensure alignment in pursuit of organizational deliverables.

  • Demonstrates initiative, leadership, has excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence and engage with multiple levels of the organization and the proven ability to lead cross functional teams is required.

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree.

  • Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience.

  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.

  • CSP, CIH or other EHS related professional certification.

  • Experience with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform field observations which could involve walking or standing on uneven terrain, squatting, bending, twisting, turning, and reaching above shoulder height and work in various climates from extreme cold to heat.

  • May require walking, standing, and or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs and ladders and lift and carry up to 25 pounds for limited distances.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to general laboratory and/or manufacturing areas.

  • Must be able to support 24/7 operations and support 2nd and 3rd shift operations on an as needed basis.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires being on call 24/7.

  • Incumbent will be required to respond to emergencies, both by phone and in person as necessary, at any time.

  • Must be willing and able to work multiple shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other times, with minimal notice.

  • Travel is expected to be minimal.

Work Location Assignment: On Premise

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
