Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Edit/Media Specialist for the Rutgers Communications and Marketing (R-Comm) department. This position will manage, strategize, and implement best practices in web and digital content for Rutgers-New Brunswick and Rutgers Health.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Conceptualizes, researches, and executes projects and initiatives requiring a high degree of sophistication and depth of knowledge in order to promote both Rutgers New Brunswick and Rutgers Health brands.

  • Works directly in content management systems and other tools to create, update, and maintain webpages while editing own work and work of the team.

  • Plans, develops and project manages assignments, incoming workflow and supports the web team to best practices to ensure all projects are on time.

  • Creates and establishes processes and schedules to liaise with internal constituents and externally with vendors to ensure streamline processes for all projects.

  • Manages content development and design processand manages feedback.

  • Keeps leadership and colleagues informed of progress, seeking review and approval at regular intervals.

  • Develops and maintains content calendars and schedules.

  • Reports on analytic metrics for website(s) and other initiatives as required.

Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Day Work Arrangement

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, editing, proofreading, publishing, marketing, organizational coordination, and/or facilitation.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a communications, editorial, or marketing role.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Superior writing and editing skills.

  • Exhibits strong attention to detail and organization.

  • Self-motivated go-getter with a positive attitude.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to "roll up sleeves" and execute program deliverables.

  • Ability to analyze data and use metrics to make adjustments, track usage, and determine effectiveness.

  • Completes work independently and collaboratively.

  • Computer literacy and web savvy required.

  • Experience working in a web content management system, especially Drupal.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing and maintaining website content and latest trends and best practices in digital communications.

  • Knowledge of current media technology and its use for effective communication strategies.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Is able to seek out information and solutions to problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience as a communications professional at an institution of higher learning.

Equipment Utilized

  • Content management systems (e.g., Drupal).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Willingness to use personal car for work travel.
