Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive and coordinate D&I programs and initiatives aligned with the Corporate B&D strategy.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and consulting to drive education and promote awareness around belonging and diversity

  • Consult with senior leadership teams to support local implementation and delivery of diversity initiatives.

  • Be a skilled facilitator and able to navigate conversations with a senior audience.

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Organizational Development, and other HR and business functions to ensure D&I thinking is embedded into key programs and processes.

  • Amplify diversity & inclusion initiatives to deliver targeted business results.

  • Draw upon internal and external D&I data and insights to implement targeted initiatives that support the business strategy.

  • Effectively implement practices to measure results and progress

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience leading diversity initiatives

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build trusting relationships

  • Proven influencing, change management, and collaboration skills

  • Ability effectively lead and facilitate discussions to create and implement functional diversity strategies

  • Knowledge of key HR practices and processes

  • Proven ability to work with all levels of management as a tactical and strategic partner, coach and advisor

  • Organizational development or organizational effectiveness skills preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Senior Principal Engineer to play a key role in Abbott's Mechanical Circulatory Support R&D organization. In this position, you will provide functional and technical leadership for the electrical engineering team that is responsible for the product development of new products and subsystems for our market-leading Ventricular-Assist devices. The MCS division of Abbott is known for its HeartMate suite of Ventricular-Assist systems that have improved the lives of tens of thousands of patients suffering from heart failure as well as their families. The selected candidate will apply multidisciplinary engineering knowledge and management skills to provide guidance to the EE team for product development activities and logistics including electrical engineering design, participating in design reviews, program scoping/planning, and qualification activities. This candidate will also provide coaching and mentoring to the engineering team to increase technical proficiency and a path for career growth. Responsibilities include: * Coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback to the team to provide career development and growth. * Technical design leadership and mentorship, including demonstration and adoption of engineering best practices. * Maintaining a safe, positive, and engaged work environment. Inspiring an energized, empowered and accountable work force. * Self-contribution of technical and engineering deliverables in a working manager role. * Managing the development of goals, objectives and strategies for electrical engineering team. * Working with program managers and other functional managers to allocate people and resources per plan and budget. Ensuring the team is aligned with meeting program timelines and milestones. * Communicating to senior management as required including technical presentations, status updates, and program reviews as required. * Coordinates and manages resources to meet detailed project timelines and milestones. * Remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise, regulatory requirements, as well as industry trends. * Promoting and supporting the development intellectual property by the EE team as appropriate. * Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering * 10 years of progressively increased work experience in a high technology research and development environment * 5+ years of experience in a regulated (FDA or similar) environment Desired Qualifications: * Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team * 4+ years of experience at a supervisory/managerial level * Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
