Job Overview
Manage, monitor and audit the daily operations of logistics flow for inbound and outbound materials - international and domestic - service and production - through the facilities assigned to the respective distribution centers and satellite warehouses
Align with the warehouse and invoicing personnel regarding outbound quality (packaging, documentation, permitting) of customer order fulfillment
Direct, schedule and dispatch transportation fleet, expedited, contracted, common carrier and rail equipment for conveyance of materials or freight
Organize and monitor carrier and supplier relationships addressing door-to-door transport issues including track/trace visibility, packaging, expediting, pick-up and delivery orders
Submit required documentation and monitor outsourced providers freight claims, OS&D and varied, multi-modal complexities of both domestic and international logistics
Obtain and file necessary documentation regarding all Logistics activities as necessary, from packing lists, house bills, certificates of insurance, letters of credit provisions, etc.
Key Job Responsibilities
Sr. Dispatch Specialist
Liaise with cross-functional personnel to maximize productivity and prompt, efficient service in fulfilling orders, analyzing root cause or handling data mining to continuously improve daily operations
Confer with internal departments, customers, regional partners, 3PL's ad supervisors to resolve questions, problems and arrange for shipment for international or domestic orders
Create, coordinate and schedule the accurate and efficient preparation of shipment requests for global transport, cross-docking consolidations or merge in transit arrangements for all order types
Operation within the department budget parameters, working with the dispatch supervisor regarding to perform pre and post-transaction audits, needs/requests
Maintain, review, audit and train employees on hazardous shipments in adherence with applicable laws and regulations; assign, designate and implement Joy Global part numbers on hazardous products, register and maintain hazardous part numbers with outside hazmat notification company
Handle and submit licensing fees and over-dimensional state permits for transport
Manage all aspects of transportation vehicles including inspection, repair and annual maintenance of the rail card, rail tracks and rail/truck scales (Milwaukee) and maintain records for retention
Qualifications/Requirements
Experience in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Experience
3-5 years work experience in logistics, warehousing and distribution
1+ year experience with transportation, WMS GTS and/or TMS processes
Knowledge of DOT regulations and how they apply to operations
Experience working with freights forwarders, material handling equipment and warehouse personnel
Technical Skills
Strong business analysis, solution design
Microsoft Suite
Personal Attributes
Understanding of process improvement (six sigma background helpful)
Knowledge of systems as they relate to supply chain/logistics concepts and practices
Works well under pressure while achieving desired results
Strong interpersonal and influential skills
Professional certification in related field (WERC, APICS, Logistics, etc.) a plus
