Job Summary: The Senior Clinical Director for the Transplant Programs is a RN with a BSN and advanced knowledge and clinical experience in liver, kidney disease and solid organ transplantation.

Demonstrates a high degree of professional competence in the assessment of patient and family needs in their adjustment to transplantation and in the planning, execution and evaluation of transplant nursing care and program operations, and whose goal is to realize optimum quality nursing practice through direct patient care, consultation and research. Serves as primary resource person for all outside agencies interested in all abdominal transplantation. Responsible for overall management of the clinical operations of all abdominal transplant programs, integrating the multidisciplinary approach with the Liver Center services provided.

Balances the business needs with the clinical initiatives by evaluating and managing the business operations, human resources, service, quality, and business development. Ensures that essential program systems maintain compliance with state and federal regulations. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor of Nursing Degree Required. Minimum of three years of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse required, preferably in field of liver, kidney and pancreas disease or transplantation.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.

Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate. Able to accept direction; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license for State of California and current Basic Life Support certification required. Active Clinical Transplant Coordinator certification preferred.
