Meet the team:

Dexcom is looking for the ideal candidate to lead the Global Direct Materials Sourcing team. The ideal candidate should have experience in managing multiple types of supplier relationships, and have a deep understanding of procurement, engineering, and manufacturing processes, preferably from having worked in these functions. The role is for an experienced transformational leader who understands the intricacies across the spectrum of supply chain activities, from sourcing to manufacturing to on-market supplier management. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with R&D to ensure strategic supplier engagement in upfront product design and development activities. Financial know-how, negotiation and collaboration skills are a must. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate and operate at a Sr. Director level, with potential to move into a CPO role.

1.Traditional Suppliers provide components produced wholly on suppliers' assets. Supplier is responsible for product or component design and process control. For the most part the sourcing leader is managing a commercial relationship, where quality, service and cost are managed.

2.Contract manufacturers where component or product is produced on suppliers' assets. Dexcom is responsible for designing product and defining appropriate manufacturing processes that the suppliers invest in supporting assets and process controls. In these relationships, the sourcing leader is managing the combination of relationships between our R&D, Engineering and Quality functions in addition to the commercial relationship.

3.Toll manufacturers where Dexcom develops the manufacturing process and invests in the assets at the supplier. The sourcing leader is managing the combination of relationships between our R&D, Engineering and Quality functions in addition to the commercial relationship. In essence, the sourcing leader needs to operate as a business GM responsible for the full relationship P&L.

Where you come in:

  • You will lead the global direct materials strategic sourcing and NPI teams which are responsible for key component category strategy, supplier selection, and supplier management. Responsible for $1.7B in spend by 2025. Team size of 14 procurement professionals. Category areas include electronics and assembly, sterilization and converting, wires, metals and chemicals, plastics and assembly and packaging.

  • You will effectively manage global suppliers in multiple regions, delivering on scale benefits, cost savings, quality and manufacturing performance. Establish supplier targets and execution to those targets. Negotiate effective contracts and agreements.

  • You will create a culture of procurement excellence using fact based negotiations, BIC negotiation techniques balancing capacity, cost, quality and delivery goals.

  • You will create and implement standardized sourcing processes including category strategies, requirements definition, RFQ templates, and sourcing recommendation.

  • You will develop and drive material cost savings projects in collaboration with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality.

  • You will manage to budgets, develop and track material costs for input into financial standards.

  • You will drive year-over-year savings for both Direct and Indirect materials

  • You will manage team members development, employee experience in hybrid environment. Must have emotional intelligence skills to manage both US and non-US teams and culture.

  • You will develop, document, and implement policies and procedures that drive improved performance from the supply base around cost, quality, and delivery.

  • You will effectively and efficiently manage supplier capacity, capacity allocation, and capex spend.

  • You will negotiate complex global contracts that leverage our growth in volumes, geographies, and risk profile.

  • You will develop strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure best supplier talent, access to technology, quality, and cost.

  • You will develop and drive collaboration with R&D, Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance and other corporate functions to ensure strategic sourcing engagement in up from project/product development.

  • You will lead NPI team to ensure sourcing engagement in the product development process (PDP), develop category strategy for R&D suppliers, project management of sourcing projects pre-tech transfer, efficient engagement of category managers in production volume sourcing.

  • You will develop and Implement programs that Increase supplier diversity spend.

  • You will develop and implement supplier sustainability goals.

  • You will drive digital adaptation, analytics, visualization, and insights.

Travel Required:

  • 25 to 50%

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 17+ years of industry experience.

  • 13+ years of years of successful leadership experience in relevant industry.

Flex Workplace: Your primary location will be a home office. You will not have an assigned workstation and will work with your manager to determine office visit needs. You must live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km).
