Job Details

General Summary:

The position provides leadership to advance the company's strategic plans through data analysis, tactical planning, and serving as a liaison between store operations, merchandising, distribution, facilities, vendors, and other support functions to ensure proper coordination of programs and processes that impact store operations. Areas that this role will support include strategies/processes related to new stores, company pilot programs, remodels/relocations, shrink, store standards, compliance disciplines, vendor partnerships, and sales growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with territory, division, region, and district leadership to identify opportunities and coordinate tactics to drive operational effectiveness in the field.

  • Act as a liaison between field operations, vendor/DSD partners, and store support center leadership to align resources necessary to support the field operations group.

  • Provide direct support to Sr. Vice President and Division Vice Presidents on project coordination and the implementation and sustained execution of company initiatives.

  • Review, communicate and inspect execution plans around key company programs, events, and initiatives through field and in-store visits.

  • Prepare and present materials/strategy to all field leaders.

  • Perform root cause analysis for "out of bounds" (OOB) shrink markets; poor store standards/execution, adherence to regulatory compliance initiatives, and underperforming new and comp stores.

  • Coordinate training and support with Field and SSC leaders to improve performance in these markets.

  • Monitor the performance of new/relocation/remodel stores and execution of store grand opening programs for consistent brand implementation.

  • Partner with SVP and DVP in the evaluation, coaching, and training of region and district leadership.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated results-oriented leadership including the ability to model total development and serve as a steward of Dollar General's mission and values.

  • Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting data, manage budgets, and control inventory.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce desired results by working with multiple functions to create win/win scenarios for all involved parties.

  • The ability to influence leaders at all levels to make decisions and execute against an action plan.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and customer service skills including a willingness to consistently provide superior customer service, the ability to react appropriately under pressure, the ability to apply good judgment in ambiguous situations, and demonstrated flexibility/adaptability.

  • Ability to effectively work in collaboration with others to achieve business objectives in a participative management style.

  • Outstanding verbal, written and technical communication abilities including the ability to present to a large audience on a regular basis.

  • Exhibit the leadership capability for development in more senior roles.

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) with 10+ years retail experience to include management and multi-unit; equivalent education and experience combination will be considered

  • Previous retail experience should be with discount, convenience, grocery, or similar retail environment.

Note: This position requires weekly travel.
