  • The Role*

The Sr Director Product Management leads a team of Product Managers with the primary responsibilities of defining the product strategy, developing and executing the product roadmap, managing financial growth and profitability, and developing market requirements based on cloud edge, cloud, SASE, SDWAN, network and IT technologies. Directs the development and strategy for Lumen SDWAN capabilities targeted at Enterprise and Federal Government agencies. Responsible for defining a competitive portfolio of software based WAN capabilities and technologies that we develop, partner for, or acquire to ensure our Cloud Edge roadmap is differentiated and market relevant. Requires advanced technical/industry knowledge and span of control. Position is both deep in content and broad in scope. An entrepreneurial product leader responsible for defining, developing and leading how we deliver experiences to our customers. Focused on the customer experience with an ability to understand and translate market opportunities and customer needs into market requirements and product value messaging. Expert in communicating our Lumen product capabilities in terms of use cases and value to both internal and external audiences via written and verbal presentations. This role provides opportunity to make an immediate impact on both our short-term deliverables and long-term strategic goals. Requires leading both a direct team of product professionals as well as matrixed organizations responsible for the development and lifecycle management of a complex product ecosystem that includes IT systems, networks, and 3rd party vendors and partners.

  • The Main Responsibilities*

  • Leads and manages a team of Product Mangers to high performance; hires and retains the right talent in the right roles; sets goals, delegates work, holds reports accountable; develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and take action.

  • Manages all aspects of the portfolio's financials for growth, revenue, and profitability. Understands and actively manages all of the levers that impact financials including funnel, usage, opex, netex, capex, credits, pricing, churn, and company accounting practices - the CEO of their business.

  • Develops and articulates vision and market strategy across the product portfolio. Identifies market direction, what's important to customers, where technology and features are evolving and where the company can effectively compete. The Sr. Director of Product Management should be viewed as an industry expert in their particular discipline with a broad understanding of the technologies relevant to customers that buy our services including cloud, SASE, SDWAN, uCPE, layer 2 and layer 3 networking, and security.

  • Leads the development of new products and product capabilities by understanding the market, writing detailed market and product requirements, developing financial justification, and championing the ask through leadership to market. Familiar with Agile development methodologies and concepts,

  • Prepares and delivers executive level presentations that include portfolio performance and portfolio development asks grounded in financial justification and addressable market hydraulics

  • Prepares and presents company and portfolio content at industry events, panels, and to industry Analysts and experts with the goal of perpetuating Lumen brand, capabilities, and differentiation

  • Oversees team to manages specific customer opportunities as they relate directly to driving revenue for the portfolio. Negotiates business terms and conditions of customer contracts. Gathers and prioritizes customer requirements and benchmarks company products to competitor products to evangelize the portfolio roadmap.

  • Subject matter expert for portfolio including competition, market dynamics, points of differentiation, value proposition, and quote to cash processes.

  • Leads a matrixed team in the continued support of the growth and lifecycle management of the portfolio to dates and deliverables including product marketing plan, engineering, operations, development, and 3rd party vendors and partners

  • Monitors customer and operational metrics for the portfolio and champions development, organizational, and process improvements in quote to cash processes to ensure a market leading customer experience.

  • Leads the creation and delivery of all product related training across all organizations

  • Develops and maintains pricing and commercial constructs for product portfolios to maximize growth, profitability, and in line with market dynamics

  • What We Look For in a Candidate*

  • 10-12+ years in industry relevant role

  • Experience developing and certifying products for Federal buyers strongly desired

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree; MBA or advanced degree desired

  • Field of Study: Finance, business, marketing, engineering, IT
