We're currently looking for a Senior Director, Procurement - Packaging & Chemicals in our Orangeburg, NY location.
Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement, leads the procurement sub-teams responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of managing $200+ MM annual category spend, combined across packaging components and chemical raw materials. The Procurement Senior Director is a key member of the Procurement team and will play an essential role in continuously lowering costs, achieving 5 star customer service, and expertly serving the many and diverse needs of the respective businesses of Nice-Pak and PDI.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
The Procurement Senior Director is responsible for developing & leading a high-performing procurement team owning the strategic & operational procurement of packaging components and chemical raw materials for Nice-Pak/PDI. The position will serve to support the successful execution of Nice-Pak and PDI's respective business strategies while meeting or exceeding the Procurement Organizational performance goals related to Total Procured Value (i.e. TCO, supply surety, average DTP, and supplier partnered innovation/business growth).
Category & team leadership Packaging & Chemicals Procurement:
Lead and develop procurement sub-team(s) responsible for managing $200MM annual spend
Develop category plan and implement sourcing strategies for all key materials / material groups; potentially hands-on strategic owner for some materials / material groups
Select, develop, and manage supplier base; drive out complexity and improved supplier performance
Negotiate commercial terms, execute and manage supply contracts
Continuously monitor & appropriately communicate category relevant market conditions, trends, activities, events, etc.
Provide procurement support to all basic business activities:
Support on-time product developments, improvements, transitions, and launches
Procurement subject matter expert for Packaging & Chemicals across NP/PDI
Work cross functionally to deliver on surety and cost savings projects
Lead materials planning activities associated with internal manufacturing
Continuously manage procurement elements of BPCS (ERP system)
Partner with Research & Development teams and 'Innovation' suppliers:
Drive top-line business growth via supplier generated / facilitated innovation
Identify & deliver on cost savings and/or risk mitigation projects
Support relevant NPD activities
Facilitate business appropriate supplier engagements; train internal stakeholders as needed
Periodic tracking & reporting:
Category strategy plans (Packaging, Chemicals)
Monthly commodity feedstock reports
Monitor PPV report; provide category specific spend and performance analysis
Quarterly procurement report including KPI dashboard

Business Support Effectiveness Metrics
Supplier Innovation / Growth Metrics
Strategic and operational procurement

Procurement related financial & quantitative analysis

Material planning principles and practices
8+ years strategic sourcing experience in relevant direct materials (preferably including both chemicals and packaging)
4+ years CPG and/or Chemical Industry experience; FDA and/or EPA related industry preferred
4+ years procurement management experience
Hands on strategic and operational procurement experience with a proven track record of success in a fast-paced, moderately structured organization
Work experience in R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, and/or Finance strongly valued
Excellent strategic & operational procurement toolbox
Excellent negotiation and contract management skills
Excellent leadership and managerial skills
Strong supplier relationship management skills
Strong internal relationship management capability (e.g. Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, Marketing)

Self-driven with an entrepreneurial & adaptive leadership style and a passion for procurement
Proven ability to manage multiple, often complex projects concurrently and deliver agreed upon results in timely fashion
Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve planning problems
Excellent organizing skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projects
Proficiency in procurement modules of BPCS or similar ERP system
Working knowledge of MS Office products (ie Excel, PP, Word)
Predominately office environment
~20% domestic & international travel required
Occasional manufacturing plant visits
