ABOUT ROLE:

This newly designed and introduced role of Senior Director

  • Global Procurement, Strategic Programs will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and enable execution of Global Procurement initiatives that align with Avery Dennison's Plan to Win.

Our global Materials Group comprises Label and Packaging Materials, Graphics Solutions, Reflective Solutions, and Performance Tapes businesses and this role will seamlessly be tying your efforts across those respective businesses. Reporting directly to the Group Vice President, Global Procurement, this leader will build an organization that will enable execution of the strategy built by this leader.

This role will be a key member of the Global Materials Procurement Leadership Team (GMPLT). The successful candidate will take along partner functions and people and will lead across highly complex global programs to achieve desired outcomes that truly position procurement as a value creator vs. just being a cost cutter.

Critical Objectives:

  • Leadership Responsibility: Build and lead a global team of 4 highly capable senior procurement professionals that will be leading critical strategic programs for global procurement that has direct impact on Avery Dennison's Plan to Win. Act as a mentor to top talent within the procurement function.

  • Strategic Programs: This role will centrally design, lead, facilitate following initiatives along with respective leaders as well as the peer functional as well as cross functional communities including but not limited to:

  • Preferred Partner Program (PPP): The leader will refine and execute upon the Preferred Partner Program (PPP) framework that has been recently established through our category and supplier segmentation activity and will accelerate the supplier partnerships that are critical to our success. This leader will set up the program and governance for this program and will enable driving progress on the fronts of competitiveness, delivery, quality, reliability, supplier innovation and sustainability with the help and contributions from GMPLT. This leader will establish an infrastructure for such supplier interactions in partnership with Global Category Leaders for Paper, Films, Chemicals and Indirect to conduct quarterly business reviews that will drive a cross functional collaboration with our partners.

  • Tail Spend Management Program (TSMP): Oversee the design, structure and partner with internal as well as supplier partners in driving the tail rationalization across our global spend. Drive successful tightening of the fragmented supply chain through centrally led-regionally executed strategy whilst partnering with our central as well as regional category teams and in alliance with all cross functional stakeholders to drive competitiveness as well as sustainability goals.

  • Environmental Social Governance Program (ESG): This program will include (but not limited to) the following scope.

  • Supplier Sustainability: In alliance with Avery Dennison's broader Sustainability community, this leader will centrally lead the design and execution of sustainability initiatives in partnership with our suppliers. In conjunction with GMPLT, this leader will put an infrastructure where disciplined dialogue occurs on specific sustainability projects to drive the needle on creating a more sustainable future. The disciplined execution of this initiative will drive our suppliers to adapt with our expectations surrounding our quest of forming a circular ecosystem for our products, usage of recycled material, reduction of carbon footprint, reduction in Scope III emissions along with using environmentally friendly chemicals and ingredients.

  • Supplier Diversity: Avery Dennison is committed to help and support minority owned suppliers from the community and this leader will put forward a formal program on diverse suppliers which will serve as the foundation for us to groom and grow emerging diverse suppliers.

  • Supplier Driven Innovation (SDI): The leader will put together a structured way of inviting supplier driven innovation and exclusivity ideas which will enable introduction and evolution of latest technology and new ideas which will further bolster Avery Dennison's offerings to our customers as well as will further enhance our product portfolio. In conjunction with our Marketing and R&D teams and with help from GMPLT, this leader will enable Supplier Innovation Day and will create a formal structure in recognizing and rewarding Innovation.

  • Enterprise Risk Management Program (ERM): Drive centralized tracking, design and development of various ERM programs such as

  • Sole Source Reduction, Business continuity Planning in conjunction with GMPLT and their broader category and execution teams.
  • Special Projects: Drive variety ad hoc and time sensitive enterprise wide projects that will enhance Procurement's contribution to Avery Dennison's Plan to Win.

  • Requirements and Prior Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree / MBA desired.

  • 15+ years of strategic sourcing, category management or related procurement / supply chain experience

  • Experience with Paper, Films, Chemicals, Indirect a major plus but not mandatory.

  • International Experience of leading global and regional teams.

  • The role will require regular global travel.
