Job Description:

Senior Segment Manufacturing Operations Leader for L3Harris Integrated Mission Systems Segment. Responsible for leading manufacturing and manufacturing engineering with over 3,000 employees in 45+ locations domestic and international. Develop short term plans and long term strategies that drive a one operations organization vision to ensure perfect delivery, quality and safety, while achieving additional operations and financial objectives. Position reports directly to the Segment Vice President of Operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Meet segment manufacturing objectives for cost, quality and delivery of material and services

  • Achieve an injury free work place through execution of EHS strategies

  • Create manufacturing strategies to meet segment Annual Operating and Strategic Growth plans

  • Achieve critical manufacturing productivity goals by developing and deploying best lean manufacturing practices.

  • Develop and executive manufacturing technology roadmaps

  • Design for manufacturability partnering with Engineering in the new product development process

  • Achieve FAR/DFAR compliant processes

  • Develop a world class operations organization through various staffing, training and talent management initiatives

  • Deliver and sustain positive measurable results

Operational Excellence experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Quality Improvement tools

  • One Piece Flow or Pull System manufacturing flow

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree (technical degree preferred, i.e. Engineering)

  • MS Degree preferred, MBA a plus

  • Lean expert certified

  • Active Secret Clearance a plus

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience

  • Knowledge of manufacturing strategies in production and development environments

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Extensive knowledge leading and executing structured lean manufacturing systems

  • Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing technology roadmaps

Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts related to Aerospace Modeling and Simulation. Develops or champions new concepts or technologies. Manages the implementation of functional strategies and recommends operational plans that directly impact the short- to mid-term function or business area results (measured via productivity and quality KPIs). Essential Functions: * Functional management of the Aerospace department within the Modeling and Simulation sub-discipline for L3Harris' Systems Engineering. This position is focused on leading an experienced team of Analysts (Astrodynamics, Mission Modeling, Flight Software, Satellite Planning and Scheduling) in support of aerospace programs and pursuits. * Responsible for leading an organization of approximately 100 Engineering employees. This includes supervision, planning, development, and execution of analysis tasking on projects, pursuits, and programs. The Sr. Engineering Manager will also provide coaching and leadership development for the direct staff of Group Leaders as well as for the entire department. * Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of Engineering department / function. * Provide staffing for programs, pursuits, and internal efforts (IR&D, Special Projects, etc.) within the Space and Airborne Business Segment and for all engineering needs. * Meet functional organization and business AOP budgets. * Advance technologies as appropriate to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to Space and Airborne Systems business. * Lead metric-based process improvement projects to improve productivity and quality of work product delivery to programs. * Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed. * Lead/Support Technical Tiger Teams for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) assessment on programs where applicable. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Math with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
