Responsibilities

Oversees the activities and operations related to the coding department within the department. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for established area of responsibility and sets workflow priorities and standards. Participates in the development and enforcement of policies and standards. Performs special projects and all other duties as requested by Executive Director.

  • Directs daily operations of the coding/charge capture department.

  • Monitors coding/charge capture processes to ensure that established policies, procedures and protocols are followed.

  • Ensures appropriate equipment and or resources are available for staff to attain maximum performance levels.

  • Determines and directs the goals and objectives of the coding department.

  • Assigns, or delegates responsibility for, specified work or functional activities and disseminates policy to supervisors.

  • Plans and develops processes and or procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards. (e.g. QA standards).

  • Designs operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency.

  • Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.

  • Develops and monitors statistical reports to enhance outcomes, forecasting, and operational efficiency.

  • Ensures accuracy of data.

  • Analyzes data, monitors and makes recommendations for changes and implements plans to improve department activity.

  • Works directly with corporate leadership.

  • Determine organization's systems, processes and structures to effectively and efficiently reach goals and objectives.

  • Participate in planning (strategic, business, project, staffing, etc.) and project management.

  • Lends expertise to internal teams and task forces.

  • Develops and implements policy changes.

  • Monitors projects, budgets, etc ensuring all mandates are executed appropriately.

  • Maintains open channels of communication.

  • Interprets organizational policies, procedures and administration decisions so mutual understanding is reached at the staff level.

  • Informs staff of their key responsibilities and performance standards.

  • Organizes and facilitates meetings to disseminate information and/or to obtain input.

  • Participates on various committees, department, and other appropriate meetings related to department and/or MSO issues.

  • Informs others as needed in a clear, concise manner; selects the proper mode of communication and includes appropriate parties.

  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.

  • Keeps Executive Director advised of all pertinent issues.

  • Maintains knowledge of current coding changes and developments.

  • Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.

  • Investigates and addresses any compliance issues as they arise.

  • Counsels physicians and/or liaison when coding changes and or issues are identified.

  • Communicates and or disseminates information to staff in an appropriate manner; accurately and timely.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Five years related experience or a combination or ten years education and related experience.

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or a comparable coding certification (e.g. AHIMA CCS-P).

  • Proven management and leadership capabilities.

  • Proficient computer skills.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

  • Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work

  • Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data

  • Generally works in an office environment

The work schedule will be Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm. Must be available to work after hours based on business needs. The DON will serve as the Administrator for both branches. Primary Responsibilities: * Assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care across the continuum * Receives, evaluates, accepts and executes the initial patient intake process to assure that patient verification, assessment, teaching and ongoing scheduling of nursing services occur in timely manner * Assures timely communication with other company personnel, and outside providers, physicians and other agencies, to assure the quality and continuity of patient care * Serves as Administrator of licensed home health agency as required by state, ensuring home health agency meets all rules and regulations for licensure * Infuse medications occasionally in patients' home including monitoring and tracking vital signs, performing procedures such as IV placement, phlebotomy and medication administration via peripheral infusion device or PICC line, implantable port and / or central venous catheters and as ordered by a licensed physician or licensed practitioner * Assess patient occasionally in home environments and including clinical assessment safety of environment, pain assessment, monitor effectiveness of medication treatment, develop plan of care, education for patients and patient's family members, including providing care., including but not limited to plan of care / plan of treatment according to state specific regulations and reports accurately and in a timely manner, according to internal and external regulatory requirements * Maintain collaborative relationships involving agencies delivering services on behalf of / or in conjunction with Optum Infusion Pharmacy, including nursing agencies in a contracted relationship, patient, families, significant caregivers and other healthcare team members * Provide education regarding Optum Health Solutions services for both internal and external customers * Function as clinical educator and resource * Serves as administrator of licensed home health agency * Assist in securing and maintaining licensure and accreditations warranted by Optum Infusion Pharmacy, including required Home Health Licensure, JCAHO, and any other licensure or credentialing as necessary * Other responsibilities as assigned You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: * Active, unrestricted RN license in state of Alabama * Bachelor in Nursing, but will consider Nurses with Associate in Nursing, based on Nursing experience * At least 3 years of experience in infusion therapy and home health experience with specific proficiency in infusion therapy * At least 2 years of experience working as an RN in a clinical care setting that contributes to proficiency in infusion therapy (such as medical surgical unit, emergency department, intensive care unit, post-anesthesia care unit, or similar setting leas * At least 1 year of experience supervising or managing a team * Strong IV skills * Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) * Availability for evening and weekend patient visits * Reliable vehicle, current and unrestricted driver's license and proof of auto insurance Preferred Qualifications: * CRNI, critical care certification and / or ER certification * Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) programs * Previous experience in Home Infusion or Home Therapy * Ability to work independently in home or alternate site settings * Oncology and / or ER experience highly preferred * Knowledge and / or experience in HIPAA, OSHA, The Joint Commission or other accrediting bodies Careers with OptumRx.
