The Sr. Director, Global Business Applications

  • Commercial Operations will be the worldwide Commercial organization leader responsible for the business strategy around creation and implementation of Salesforce.com (SFDC), SAP, associated analytics platforms, and other Commercial applications. Under direction of the VP, Global Business Operations this individual will lead a geographically diverse team, working with associates to plan and execute related activities, identify resources and responsibilities to ensure on-time delivery of goals, and provide visibility to all stakeholders. This individual will coordinate activities among supporting groups, facilitate communications, and develop, drive, and maintain plans for project deliverables. This role will work in concert with IT, driving systems requirements, and ensuring business needs are fully represented.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the worldwide Commercial organization business leader for all software systems needs, including SFDC, SAP, associated analytics platforms, and other Commercial applications

  • Manages strategic and tactical applications needs and requirements as defined by the business, facilitating revenue growth and deriving system adoption

  • Gathers systems requirements from all stakeholders, and represents these in an overall roadmap; works closely with IT and associated groups to execute specific project phases against the same

  • Effectively partners with regional and global functional leads in IT, Sales, Marketing, Customer Care (Service, Support) and Commercial Ops, and elsewhere as required.

  • Identifies potential bottlenecks or delays in initiatives, defines solutions and drives efforts to ensure deliverables stay on schedule

  • Coordinates resources with appropriate inter-departmental and support staff personnel.

  • Ensures alignment and consistency across regional teams via regular interaction with local business leads

  • Able to independently develop clear and well-defined plans, driving strategy into actions and measurable results.

  • Regularly prepares and presents reports, and updates and analysis in formal meetings with stakeholders and Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and leads a systems strategy to enable success with Cepheid's strategic plan and Commercial business priorities

  • Defines scope, goals, and deliverables to meet Commercial needs in collaboration with management and stakeholders

  • Drives global utilization of released tools, ensuring consistent practice in alignment with established standards and requirements

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate resources and track tasks

  • Oversee development of / play a key role in the development of associated documentation including plans, process maps, and business requirements

  • Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans

  • Lead and develop team members and handle all aspects of personnel management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience or Master's/Doctoral degree with 12 years of experience

  • 4 years managing people


  • 5 years of experience in leadership roles in SFDC/CRM development, deployment, and administration, ideally in support of Commercial teams



  • 5 years of Sales / Commercial management experience, with national or global responsibilities


  • Direct experience with Salesforce.com and SAP

  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, and collaboration skills

  • Articulate, organized, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to multi-task in a dynamic, extremely fast-paced environment

  • Ability to develop and support an attitude of strong and effective teamwork across all departments

  • Cross functional leadership skills to effectively organize teams to produce portfolio deliverables

  • Strong interpersonal, communications, organizational and presentation skills required

  • Formal project management training is a plus

  • Demonstrated success in leading and influencing cross-functional teams

Knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent cross-functional team leadership and participation skills.


  • 5 years of experience in project management for a technology company


  • Ability to lead, develop, and motivate others, through direct control as well as influence

  • Works well within team & coaches team members, as needed

  • Ability to thrive and flourish in a fast-paced, dynamic, and global environment.

  • Results and goals oriented.

  • Strong problem solving skills, using a data-driven approach

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members, and management

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and fast-developing situations

  • Experience with DBS tools and processes, or with related management systems

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Work will involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.

  • Long periods of sitting on planes and in meetings

  • Travel International and Domestic
