The Sr. Director / Director of Global Product Marketing of Sequencing leads a team of Product Marketers responsible for Illumina's core NGS portfolio, including systems, consumables, library prep, and multiomic assays. This position oversees development and execution of the overall go-to-market strategy, including positioning and messaging, full-funnel marketing campaigns, and new product introductions.

This role will interface directly with Product Management, Regional Marketing and Commercial to ensure that our products our positioned, placed and promoted to drive growth. The successful candidate will be a highly independent, seasoned veteran who can creatively lead cross-functional programs while building best-in-class marketing capabilities.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversees development and execution of the overall go-to-market strategy and commercial marketing efforts for Illumina's NGS portfolio (platforms, consumables, and core assays).

  • Works in tandem with regional marketing, product management and sales organization to ensure alignment of strategy, messaging, and tactics.

  • Provide guidance and direction to the team on strategies and investment that drive business and growth from key market segments and customer types.

  • Partners with internal and external agency teams to develop marketing content (campaigns, positioning, messaging, etc.)

  • Oversees development of sales enablement tools and assists sales teams by providing guidance for product messaging and positioning, objection handling and identifying target customers.

  • Development of competitive positioning, battlecards, sales tools and campaigns

  • Collaborates deeply with upstream marketing and product management on VOC, product design inputs, and launch strategy.

  • Works across the organization and directly with customers and commercial to bring the voice of customer and voice of field into the overall strategic marketing plans.

  • Establishes close relationships with key customers, thought leaders, and industry influencers to stay abreast of emerging market trends and regulatory guidance.

  • Understands key business drivers, based on data and analytics, market trends and direct interaction with Commercial teams and customers.

  • Builds a high performing team, with ability to attract top talent and mentor, engage and develop existing employees to ensure continued professional development and career progression.

Preferred Educational and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or PhD a plus.

  • Must have at least 10+ years of industry experience in Product Marketing and at least 3 years in NGS or genomics related industry.

  • Demonstrated experience developing full funnel marketing campaigns and go-to-market strategy in life sciences industry.

  • Must have been a marketing leader, both pre- and post-launch, for a major product line

  • Must have strong analytical skills - ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy and make data driven decisions is critical.

  • Must have demonstrated effective collaboration in matrixed or highly cross-functional business settings.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully building new clinical markets is strongly preferred.

  • Technical knowledge of genomics, next-generation sequencing and molecular biology products is highly desired.

Position will be in either our San Diego HQ or Foster City office.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Director / Director, Global Product Marketing, Sequencing role based in the United States of America is: $220,500 - $330,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
