Audible (a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon) is seeking an exceptionally bright, experienced and well-connected strategist for the role of Senior Director, Consumer PR. This position will report to the Vice President, Consumer PR within the office of the CEO and brings daily interaction with senior executives and the media.

This individual will have oversight of various verticals and will be responsible for generating smart, creative and strategic communication campaigns that elevate brand awareness with consumers as well as the creative community. The position requires a deep understanding of the evolving digital media landscape and changing consumer appetites, superior communication skills and extensive public relations/talent relations/event experience. The ideal candidate understands how to effectively promote content, will be able to formulate thoughtful communication plans, corral high quantities of information from different areas, identify opportunities within the entertainment landscape, and complete complex tasks quickly. The candidate has pre-existing strong media and industry relationships and understands and/or has experience promoting some or all of these areas: TV/film, publishing, theater and music. The candidate is a strong collaborator and is able to work successfully in a team environment, understands how to pivot quickly within a rapidly changing business, and can support the team during dynamic growth and transition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Develop and execute strategic PR campaigns with emphasis on Audible's original content slate (which includes audiobooks, eclectic audio entertainment, theater, etc.)

  • Build positive awareness around content initiatives, events, brand image efforts and more; promote and amplify Audible offerings through frequent positive media coverage in consumer and trade media outlets

  • Collaborate with VP in creating strategic plans that support overarching business initiatives and company's communication goals

  • Develop and maintain high-level relationships with key media in the entertainment, music, theater, publishing, lifestyle and news categories across print, digital and broadcast media, and in business and tech categories

  • Work on daily basis with teams throughout the company to identify PR opportunities and to counsel on media exposure

  • Forge meaningful partnerships and source opportunities to elevate Audible and its content within the creative community and beyond

  • Support and drive influencer strategy

  • Develop and support awards campaign strategy to secure nominations and wins

  • Glean insights from business intelligence to generate unique story angles

  • Develop and oversee creation of compelling written materials, including press releases, briefing materials, pitch letters, Q&As and other supporting documents

  • Responsible for supervision of all aspects of event coordination and for resulting media coverage

  • Help manage the department budget
