Position Summary:

Reporting to the SVP, Global Commercial Strategy and Operations, the Sr. Director of Commercial Systems & Analytics will lead Illumina's efforts in defining our long-term commercial systems, data and business analytics vision & strategy. Partners across the organization to build commercial systems and analytics capabilities as a key driver of commercial success and a lever of competitive advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishment of new commercial analytics organization, including defining required capabilities and roles

  • In collaboration with IT and business stakeholders, defines vision and 3-year roadmap for commercial systems and analytics capabilities

  • Partners with IT to define and communicate commercial data and system needs and helps to drive program execution to implementation

  • Partners with key regional and global stakeholders to provide analytics support to facilitate data-driven decision making, performance measurement and tracking of key business metrics

  • Leverages latest analytical models and tools including data discovery solutions, dash-boarding tools, data visualization tools, statistical techniques and predictive modelling to provide insights at all levels of the organization

  • Leverages regional/function best practices for deployment across the broader commercial organization (assessment and exchange of best practice)

  • Provides core infrastructure and Center of Excellence for the development of scorecards, KPIs, channel analytics, and ad hoc analysis

  • Ensures one comprehensive and accurate 'source of truth' for all data sets used by the commercial organization

  • Partners with Marketing Analytics to oversee data governance committee to identify, evaluate, acquire and integrate new data sets across the commercial organization; including data sources that will enhance customer, market and competitive understanding

  • Partners with Sales Operations and Global Channel Strategy and Partnerships to provide key metrics and scorecards to assess sales and commercial effectiveness

  • Partners with Customer Solutions to provide all data and scorecards required to optimize service and support capabilities and ultimately help to enhance the customer experience

  • In partnership with Finance, provides capabilities required for financial modelling and business case support to the commercial organization

  • Understands database structure and processes, and contributes to the development and execution of effective data mining processes, including: dataset preparation; data cleansing/audit; data exploration; modeling; model deployment; and model assessment

  • Develops models to generate forecasts and other forward-looking insights to support business decision-makers

  • Ultimately, helps Illumina migrate from historical business measurement to hypothesis-based predictive analytics and modelling

  • Provides insight to support commercial investment decisions

  • Where possible, drives to most simple and effective data model by reducing redundancy across systems, and simplifying data architecture

  • Ensures all business systems are compliant with relevant regulatory authorities

  • Builds and develops team of analytics and business intelligence professionals to support the global and regional commercial organization

  • Manages programs within scope, budget and time-line

  • Acts as an advocate for data-driven decision making across all levels of the organization

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of systems, data & analytics leadership at a senior level

  • Deep knowledge of statistics, and predictive modeling, with proven experience translating big data into actionable outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to drive business results in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams to achieve objectives

  • Demonstrated project management capabilities including team leadership, budget management and driving quality outcomes

  • Proven vendor selection and vendor management capabilities

  • Life sciences, diagnostics and/or healthcare industry experience is an advantage

  • Extensive SAP experience (SAP S/4HANA) is an advantage

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills with keen business acumen and the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization

  • Balance of strategic skills and the ability to execute

  • Track record of successfully delivering results across organizational boundaries. Proven ability to establish and leverage credibility and rapport with peers and senior executives

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred
