Job Summary:

The Sr. Director Business Office provides financial and operational leadership for physician services including Erlanger Medical Group.

Under the direction of the Physician Services VP of Operations, the Sr. Director provides leadership in developing long term business strategic plans for all Erlanger Medical Group practices. the Sr. Director is responsible for the business operations and financial performance of Erlanger Health (EH) owned and managed practices through the management structure.

The Sr. Director works closely with Senior Management to ensure a patient friendly experience as patients and families move through the ambulatory and inpatient environments of Erlanger Health.

Directs overall business operations of the practice(s) and is responsible for managing, monitoring and performance reporting of all business operations activities including identified Key Performance Indicators (KPI). The Sr. Director is accountable for identifying areas in need of mitigation, developing action plans, overseeing deployment of action plans, tracking effectiveness of action plan and keeping VP of operations up to date on developing for taking corrective actions when and where necessary. Works with Directors and Practice Managers to obtain, organize and deliver the human, physical and fiscal resources necessary for the safe and efficient conduct of the practice(s) in a manner responsive to the needs of patients, staff and physicians.

In conjunction with Provider Recruitment, responsible for planning, directing and evaluating provider compensation program operations for the Medical Group. Performs as the key contact with the organization's provider compensation functions to facilitate alignment with system-wide standards and procedures and lead the annual strategic planning process for the division.

Oversees provider compensation program operations to include compensation/payroll, accounting and financial reporting. The Sr. Director will coordinate the development of annual operating budget for provider compensation and patient volumes.

Fosters an environment of teamwork, collaboration and mutual trust among physicians and administration. Promotes a high-performance culture and fosters a success oriented, accountable environment with a focus on standardization and process improvement in support of quality clinical outcomes.

Education:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree, Health Administration, or relevant field

Preferred:

Master's in Business Administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA) or relevant field.

Experience:

Required:

A minimum of 6 years of management of physician practices with a demonstrable track record of success

Strong financial and operations acumen with a proven track record of improved performance in an organization.

Current knowledge about the business and financing of healthcare with a thorough understanding of managed care and health care financial trends, information systems, budgeting and group practice management.

Management experience must demonstrate teamwork, and exhibit strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Department Position Summary:

This position supports the VPs of Operations. Serves as a leader and team member for the business operations of Physician Services at Erlanger Health. Functional areas include but are not limited to the following:

Function in a strategic, facilitative and proactive manner to enhance the growth and expansion of physician services at Erlanger Health

Develop and provide regular reports for VPs of Operations that review financials, track performance and provide actionable insights.

Develop and provide regular business reports for physician services leadership and executive leadership.

In conjunction with VP Operations, develop business operational policies and guidelines for physician services.

Responsible for financial and operations performance benchmarking for physician group practices, ability to analyze said information and ability to generate and manage budget variances.

Identify, prioritize, develop and implement various business operations projects for physician services.

Develop and maintain current practice and provider portfolios for performance and strategic analysis for VPs of Operations

Provide oversight and guidance of EMG revenue cycle processes.

Leads provider compensation plan redesign in support of health system strategy.

Develops, implements and maintains all provider compensation plans, policies and related documents.

Manages participation in and maintenance of provider compensation and production surveys.

Oversees centralized provider payment adjudication process and internal controls to include quarterly and annual production reconciliation.

Reviews and approves all provider compensation for new hires and contracted providers to ensure compliance with Erlanger Health provider compensation guidelines and policies recommending committee review if plans fall outside of guidelines.

Leads Provider Compensation Committee and works with outside consulting groups as needed.

Support provider recruitment department in efforts to recruit and retain providers.

Oversee physician services operating budget processes to include monthly variance reporting.

Coordinates physician services annual capital budget request process and submission.

Coordinates all audit and internal controls for physician services business operations.

Work with different personality types while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, doctors and the public.

Ability to analyze problems and opportunities, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations that support organizational goals.

Knowledge of enterprise information systems for healthcare delivery systems

Ability to organize and complete high volume workload accurately and in a timely manner.

Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Excellent communication skills

Knowledge of HIPPA/Patient Confidentiality

Possess calm, poised management style with self-confidence and ability to inspire confidence.

Knowledge of ambulatory care space planning and management.
