The Sr. Director, Business Insights will lead, advise, and provide business insights to the Kyowa Kirin, North America Business. In this role you will build and lead the North America Business Insights Department responsible for the design, management and execution of primary market research, secondary data analytics, data management and predictive modeling activities to various internal stakeholders (Business Units, Product Strategy Groups, Development leadership, Business Development),
In coordination with business units, design, run, and analyze primary market research
Align current data sources for both strategic and operational use
Manage all data vendors and select new data sources to fit company needs providers
Provide secondary data analytics to support business insights
Serve as member of the commercial leadership team and support the design and execution of commercial strategy
Develops methodology and models for all Kyowa Kirin, North America brands to determine impact on sales for marketing and sales promotion activities, sales targeting initiatives and customer analysis.
Lead Analytics and Forecasting team responsible for ongoing commercial key performance indicators (KPIs) and revenue forecasting assumption generation.
Ensure analytics and modeling activities align with brand strategy by partnering with brand leadership to understand strategic initiatives.
Suggests content for agendas, prepares and delivers presentations to address information needs and provides Data Analytics and Forecasting perspectives to decisions points.
Maintains awareness of evolving analytical techniques, software and data sources to bring innovative approaches into the organization that drives higher quality results; designs and implements advanced secondary data analysis methodologies that provide best practices in these areas.
Prepares and delivers presentations with meaningful implications, actionable insights and recommendations which clearly delineate pros and cons to senior executive leadership in a timely manner.
If outsourcing is appropriate, manages relationships with vendors on analytic plans, methodologies, and final deliverables.
Mentors analysts and Forecasting analysts to ensure development
Able to use deep breadth of analytics and market knowledge to guide strategy decisions by brand directors and provide support for those decisions in discussions with senior executives.
Responsible for hiring, training, developing, coaching and evaluating direct reports.
Deploy high impact performance reports/dashboards to keep leadership abreast of KPI's and areas of potential opportunity or threats.
Identify early-warning signals of changes in the market environment that may require action or decisions by the Commercial Leadership Team.
Complete segmentation studies to inform targeting exercises.
Conduct promotional sensitivity, marketing mix, and channel analytics projects.
Perform ad hoc, deep dive analysis in secondary research as required to uncover and understand market and competitive dynamics.
Keep abreast of market & industry developments and incorporate applicable trends into forecasting assumptions.
Lead the Forecasting team to incorporate the impact of key market trends and events. Work collaboratively with internal customers to ensure that forecast assumptions are fact-based and reasonable.
Liaise with primary market research colleagues to assess qualitative impact on forecast assumptions.
Evaluate and recommend new secondary data sources and vendors.
Assess predictive analytics methodologies for use in decision-making.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a Business or Science field. Master's or MBA, preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in similar roles within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
Technical, Analytical and computer skills; Excel, access and PowerPoint skills are a must
Proficiency in SAS, SQL, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or similar analytical and reporting tools
Knowledge and experience in Analytical Modeling, Forecasting and Pharmaceutical Market Research Data Sources (e.g., Rx data, Retail and Medical claims, EMR data, etc.)
Ability to evaluate and aggregate multiple data sets into actionable insights.
Prior experience managing direct reports and interfacing cross functionally at all levels within the organization
