The Senior Director, Customer Strategy leads the interactions between Marketing and Sales in addition to key cross-functional partners in Supply Chain, Customer Logistics and Finance to devise and lead the execution of innovative go to market initiatives that result in category leadership for the customer and Nature's Bounty. This individual develops and implements industry-leading strategies with senior decision-makers at both the customer and company that drive business results, operational effectiveness and have direct impact into the P&L. This role provides significant input into, and delivers against, the development of Company business objectives and leads key business decisions with management board that are business critical and strategic in nature.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Planning:

  • Accountable for the development and execution of strategic plans that distinguish between classes of trade and incorporate a deep understanding of marketplace dynamics.

  • Serves as a member of the management board, on behalf of the US Sales Organization providing voice of customer to deliver business plans for multiple franchises/categories.

  • Responsible to allocate the quota and trade funding across customer teams to enhance business results Responsible to achieve pre-determined financial commitments to the company by leading the efforts of the strategy team to execute go to market strategies.

  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

Trade Funding

  • Partners with key management members to maximize the trade fund investment and to oversee the development of strategic trade plans aligned with marketing objectives.

  • Synthesizes customer strategies with brand and sales strategies to maximize results for both customer and company.

Talent Planning

  • Leads the talent and performance management of reporting staff, while identifying and developing top-potential individuals who can fill the succession planning needs of the company in the future.

  • Complies with company policy and procedures at all times.

  • At least 12 years consumer products environment experience required.

  • Experience in direct customer sales required.

  • 5+ years people management experience required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of consumer products industry, category, brand strategies, competitive products, classes of trade, and the ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex problems successfully is required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail customer store operations, structure, strategy, and retail execution tactics is required.

  • Ability to select and enroll team members and delegate responsibilities to develop and execute company and customer business plans.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate the company strategy to customers and enroll their support, is required.

  • Ability to effectively resolve competing priorities for the team and the customer relating to product group, category or brand is required.

  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, complex matrix, changing environment is required.

  • Ability to access information technology applications to improve current business environment is required.

  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to influence up one or more levels and at top to top levels across Nature's Bounty and the customer organization, is required.

  • Ability to create and transfer a selling strategy to address all market customers and channels with a long-term horizon of the future state of the business is required.

  • Proven ability to provide customized interpretations of industry and competitive data to enhance the ability to win at the shelf and achieve outstanding business results is required.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite applications, database information sources, and web applications is required.

  • Ability to build relationships and senior level engagement

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • The ability to utilize creativity and push beyond the obvious, comfortable going into "unchartered" territory in setting out recommendations, goals

  • Problem solver with a solutions oriented mindset

  • Dynamic leader who can push past obstacles, overcome objections

  • P&L management and strong financial acumen

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field required, MBA a plus.

  • 25% or more overnight travel time required.

This position requires an engaging self-starter with strong creativity, a passion for the customer and data, and the ability to execute in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy marketer who strives for innovation and results-oriented outcomes. The individual needs to be self-directed and able to handle multiple tasks, delegate responsibility through a matrixed team and prioritize with a professional, can-do attitude.
