Job Description

This is a senior level administrative position in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Dean's Office overseeing The College's course enrollment planning efforts and the strategic use of data and other analytical tools to promote student success and effective resource allocation.

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Student and Academic Programs in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and working collaboratively with college and academic unit leadership, the Senior Director for Enrollment Planning and Data Analytics is responsible for developing and implementing innovative course enrollment management and data analytic strategies designed to enhance the academic persistence, progression, and degree completion of the roughly 32,000 on-ground and online students majoring in The College and the tens of thousands of other ASU students that enroll in our courses to meet their pre-requisite and general studies degree requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience in recruitment, retention, or other related student services in a college/university environment, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a terminal degree and ten (10) years of related university teaching or administrative experience.

  • Knowledge of the curriculum and disciplines that comprise the liberal arts and sciences.

  • Experience managing and developing professional staff.

  • Experience in project management and prioritizing the work of teams in a complex higher education environment.

  • Experience in utilizing relationship and communication skills to complete tasks for a diverse set of stakeholders.

  • Skill in problem solving and decision-making.

  • Experience in applying analytical frameworks to answer complex questions related to course enrollment planning and student success initiatives.

  • Experience presenting data reports, dashboards, and analyses to a diverse set of audiences.

  • Knowledge of programs and systems utilized in higher education settings such as course scheduling platforms, curriculum management tools, and student information systems.

  • Familiarity or experience with ASU's data repositories and national higher education data reporting systems (for example, IPEDS and other NCES resources).

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices pertaining to student retention, persistence, and timely degree completion at an institution of higher education.

  • Participation in professional development activities focused on enrollment management and data analytics in higher education settings.

Essential Duties

  • Serve on the Associate Dean's Office of Students and Academic Programs leadership team.

  • Strategize and prioritize The College's course enrollment management and data analytical efforts.

  • Train, develop, and monitor the work of three data analysts.

  • Create tools, policies, and procedures that support The College's course enrollment and student success planning efforts.

  • Work with academic department chairs and directors on the implementation of curricular decision making at the unit level.

  • Oversee ad hoc data and reporting requests that support The College's leadership and academic units in fulfilling their curricular, student success, and resource planning needs.

  • Summarize and present complex reports to various stakeholders related to The College's course enrollment and student success metrics.

  • Oversee the development and dissemination of enrollment projections for high demand courses offered by our academic units (for both immersion and online courses).

  • In collaboration with Dean's Office leadership, lead efforts to explore the impact that courses, degree programs, and engagement initiatives have on overall student success.

  • Serve as the principal resource to The College's academic units on issues involving course scheduling and room assignments.

  • Work closely with other ASU schools and colleges to resolve complex course management and planning issues, including cross-college course coordination and first-year course block scheduling.

  • Partner with staff in the Provost's Office, the university's Admissions Enterprise, and other ASU administrative teams to understand, develop, and implement data tools related to course enrollment planning and student success initiatives.

  • Represent The College by serving on various college and university committees focused on enrollment planning, data analysis, and student success.

  • Manage The College's analytics site by maintaining existing and developing new content including self-service reporting tools used by various stakeholders in the Dean's Office and The College's academic units.

$95,000 - $120,000 per year; DOE
