This person is responsible for the installation and development of Itron monitors and the installation of Itron applications. This person will be part of a group that is building tools to automate and streamline processes regarding the deployment of Itron monitors. The candidate is required to work with very little supervision delivering projects and tasks related to the infrastructure. Candidate needs to be able to make independent judgments around key decision area and potential issues/solutions.
The position requires performing maintenance and off-hours projects that are typical for this type of position. These duties include installing new infrastructure, perform maintenance on current servers and services and participating in projects that need to be done occasionally during off hours due to business impact.
The position also will be point of escalation on issues regarding monitors and application configuration.
Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining Itron software applications in support of engineering processing requirements.
Write Shell/Perl/Python/Ansible scripts to automate and develop monitors
Log, track, and update every incident through incident management process
Troubleshoot application failure analysis and recovery
Install software, apply patches, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts
Maintaining local documentation and written process.
Respond to off hours alerts within defined service SLAs
Be on pager rotation schedule to support end-user off hours
Help develop new monitoring and automation solutions
Good under pressure
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Experience with Linux
Basic understanding of networking
Experience with Shell, Perl, Python or scripting
Familiarity with SNMP protocol and versions as well as how to interact with MIBs\OIDs
Understanding of system-level resource allocation, with regards to memory\cpu\disk utilization
Understanding of Java application-level resource utilization, and the conceptual difference between heap\stack memory allocation
Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
Familiarity with Nagios and/or Splunk a plus
Experience with Ansible a plus
Full capability to install and configure tomcat and apache a plus
Capable to install and configure MariaDB databases and query languages
Experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments.
Comfortable with APIs (SOAP/REST/WSDL)
Strong troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies
Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people
Capable to make judgment within defined Itron process, procedures and change control.
Be able to work and resolve problems where the root cause requires review and analysis of multiple factors and aspects.
Outstanding customer service skills
