Primary Purpose:The Senior Designer will manage the day to day responsibilities of the Print Studio. This role will focus on driving the print research and design process for Coach Collection/Pre-Collection and Coach New York (Retail) including RTW, leather goods, and scarves. The position reports directly to the Senior Design Director of the Print Studio.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency to...

  • Research the prints and the print application ideas through market and online.

  • Create prints through original artwork or purchased files - clean, color separate and create colorway options.

  • Oversee design and development of scarves from research to production

  • Manage all information sharing across Design teams for various product categories and cross-functional partners such as PD teams and merchandising teams

  • Create and maintain concept and presentation boards

  • Work proactively according to development calendar to stay ahead of timelines

  • Maintain print and scarf archives both digitally and physically

  • Manage a team with two direct reports and one apprentice

The accomplished individual will possess...

  • Bachelors Degree in Textile Design, Graphic Design, or related field

  • 7-10 years of textile design work experience, in accessories &/or apparel market

  • Must be EXPERT level Photoshop and Illustrator user, and proficiency in Nedgraphics is a plus

  • Must be skilled at hand drawing and painting

  • Experience developing product directly with factories is a plus; understanding of product development from concept through commercialization

  • Knowledge of textiles, embellishments, and performance quality

  • A strong range of print and scarf resources

  • Highly-developed taste level and sensitivity to color balance

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to change

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented - excellent calendar adherence and ownership

Responsibilities The Senior Technical Designer is accountable for the garment uniformity and consistency as it pertains to fit, construction and quality. The Senior Technical Designer also interfaces with all cross functional teams and global partners and ensures product is consistent with Express standards and production timelines. * Collaborate with designers and merchants to determine fit and aesthetic details. * Oversee and create and update tech packs in Web PDM and Micrografx. * Lead fit sessions with designers and merchants, proposing alternative methods of construction or components. * Analyze fit, trim components and construction of garments for approval, while meeting development and production timelines. * Oversee/ensure labeling, marketing and packaging requirements are compliant with Express standards. * Collaboration with Design Trim Manager and Garment Marketing Manager. * Oversee/ensure garment and trim lab testing results are compliant with Express standards. * Monitor and track the status of all development and production styles. * Communicate fit comments and corrections to ESP and non ESP global technical partners, factories and vendors as applicable. * Actively participates in weekly production and "product team workshop" (PTW) meetings to gain cross functional alignment. * Collaborates with the Technical Manager and Patternmaker to initiate block pattern development. * Interfaces with New York Product Development (NYPD) and Merchant teams to determine critical development needs.
