Harley-Davidson Motor Company is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, where the first H-D factory was built in 1903 - a wooden shed in the backyard of the Davidson's family home. Our onsite and hybrid Milwaukee area employees work out of the Harley-Davidson Product Development Center located just outside of the city - in Wauwatosa. Join our team as a Sr Designer.

Job Summary

This is a senior-level designer position that directly impacts the safety and performance of the next generation of industry-leading Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Through experience and subject matter expertise, the Sr.

Designer will be expected to work on design projects applying sound design practices, generate computer-aided design (CAD) models and engineering drawings, and create appropriate project documentation to all design projects. In addition, this senior position is expected to direct the work of others, lead projects, and make recommendations to meet department goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in delivering optimal designs while adhering to project targets, performance objectives, high quality, and cost minimization.

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and experience in writing documentation supporting product development that utilize CAD models/product renderings, engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and tolerance studies.

  • Acts as a resource to less experienced designers, mechanics, and outside suppliers assigned to department projects.

  • Collaborates with other engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop and deliver vehicle components to production.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Education Specifications

  • An Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or related technical field is Preferred.

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience

  • Demonstrates in CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems

  • Demonstrated examples of delivering design to the appropriate quality, cost and timing objectives; as well as taking manufacturing and assembly processes into consideration

  • Ability to apply sound design practices to engineering drawings
