Primary Responsibilities
This position will define and disseminate DFM/DFA knowledge across the New Product Development Team. Additionally, this position will design, test, and coordinate the development of new product lines and features.
DFM/DFA
DFM (design for manufacturing) / DFA (design for assembly) focused responsibilities including:
Defining best practices and overall strategy.
Creation of design guides.
Refinement of the design review process.
Mentoring peers.
Acting as a liaison with Manufacturing Engineering to increase overall knowledge.
Communicate effectively throughout the New Product Development Teams.
Product Development
Generate and convert ideas into working design solutions while working independently and within cross-functional teams.
Provide and present design solutions for review by product and management teams.
Direct/Evaluate design through 3D modeling, drafting, tooling, and testing.
Conduct cost analysis and other feasibility studies as required.
Lead tolerance stack-ups to ensure assembly and fabrication capabilities.
Active member of the new product development team with a willingness to work with internal and external customers.
Write and manage engineering change notices (CN's) to improve products.
Self-starter who can satisfy their goals and timelines.
Project Management
Plan, schedule, and organize workload.
Direct, review, and approve work done by Engineers, Designers, and Drafters.
Determine and coordinate test requirements and analyze results against the product requirements.
Write purchase requisitions and approve vendor invoices.
