Summary:

This position is responsible for creating, maintaining, and supporting our backend data sources that support BI analytics, Azure Synapse workspaces and D365 SSRS Reports. This person will be expected to contribute to the overall strategic roadmap including, but not limited to, the architecture for the Azure Data Lake and external pipelines, our Operational Data Store, and oversight to all the data connections in our platform. This position will need to provide advisement and execute database maintenance tasks on existing servers as it relates to replication needs, security, and overall data integrity. This role will also ultimately lead efforts to archive and decommission legacy data and their originating databases.

What You'll Do:

  • Data Strategy and Defining Architecture:

  • As we evolve our overall footprint and platform there is intent to utilize the Azure synapse workspaces, inclusion of Azure data factory as needed, and the overall adoption of the Microsoft Fabric product as it evolves to enable continuous growth in Analytics.

  • This role will play a critical part of researching and recommending growth phases that balance stability with our end-user analytical goals.

  • This will also include a lead role in the designs for our archive strategy for storing legacy data systems.

  • BI Reporting Data View Design:

  • Design and create the data structures and underlying data models required to pull data from multiple sources blending live data feeds with legacy data archives.

  • Creation of Data Lake views and Semantic Models will serve as the single source of truth for all internal and external reports.

  • This responsibility will include creation and tuning of complex SQL queries.

  • SSRS Support, Creation and Maintenance:

  • With the implementation of our D365 footprint there are embedded SSRS Reports, primarily in the financial space, which this role will maintain, enhance and develop new based on business requirements.

  • This role will also inherit installation, configuration and maintenance of existing SQL Server stack including SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS until such platform is superseded.

  • Maintenance of Legacy Systems:

  • During the transition, this role will retain ownership of certain production related tasks regarding Database maintenance and data investigation resulting from support or legal inquiries.

  • This role will work closely with the infrastructure team to maintain stable data environments, including Always on Availability Groups and Mirroring for servers on SQL 2014 and higher and Windows Operating Systems.

  • This role will align with Cyber Team to ensure standard practices, testing, and security principles are being adopted and enforced within database environments.

  • This role will assume a lead role in executing against the above-mentioned data archive and server ramp down activities as our transformation project evolves.

What You'll Need:

  • Education:

  • BS in Computer Science, Data Science or Information Technology preferred, and/or a minimum of 5-7 years in data or report driven role.

  • Knowledge

  • Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, procedure manuals, and safety rules.

  • Mathematics Skills:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

  • Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in both written form and received through verbal communications.

  • Ability to think analytically to define requirements and translate to final solution design.

  • Ability to accurately understand, spell, and type words and numbers.

  • Technical SQL Experience:

  • SQL Knowledge and experience working with Relational databases, and an ability to read, write and troubleshoot basic SQL Queries.

  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with performance tuning.

  • Exposure to any of the D365 modules would be a plus.

  • This position requires the mind-set to continue to evolve and learn new technologies, as well as organizational and time management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Team Dynamics:

  • This role will require the ability to work independently as well as be able to collaborate in a team environment.
