Amazon is seeking an experienced, self-directed data scientist to support the research and analytical needs of Amazon Web Services' Sales teams. This is a unique opportunity to invent new ways of leveraging our large, complex data streams to automate sales efforts and to accelerate our customers' journey to the cloud. This is a high-visibility and high business impact role.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a deep intuition for machine learning algorithms and an ability to work with business stakeholders to define problems and suggest appropriate algorithm applications. The candidate will be talented at communicating your results clearly to business owners in concise, non-technical language.

You should be adept at executing every stage of the machine learning development life cycle in a business setting; from initial requirements gathering to through final model deployment, including adoption measurement and improvement. You will be working with large volumes of structured and unstructured data spread across multiple databases and can design and implement data pipelines to clean and merge these data for research and modeling.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with economists, data engineering, sales operations and other business stakeholders to deliver key business insights

  • Deliver quantitative research and develop predictive models to support annual planning for a high-growth business

  • Examples of projects including ML-based territory assignments, workforce planning, office location strategies and segment-based revenue projections

  • Support ad hoc analysis to provide leadership with original insights to drive high-impact business decisions

As a data scientist you are passionate about turning data into actions by building machine learning models and exploring new technologies. As a Sr. Data Scientist on the digital transformation BI team you will bring your knowledge, expertise and real passion for solving problems with data and provide new and creative thinking to help craft the future data architecture at F5. As a member of the Digital Transformation team, the Sr. Data Scientist is key to ensure that we are capturing the right data, that we have tools and technology to develop experiments, build models and land the models in a production environment. The Sr. Data Scientist directly reports to the Director of Digital BI and will partner with the IT Organization, Global Services Leadership and others. This position is regarded as a subject matter expert (SME) in the areas of data science, building models to support the next best action recommendations for internal groups as well as the customers experience, reporting, business case creation, analytics, and using data to drive actions. Primary responsibilities: * Engage broadly across F5 to understand customer problems, identify gaps in our current knowledge of the customer journey and provide guidance for data capture by prioritizing business opportunities that tie client digital experience improvements to data architecture and infrastructure requirements * With pragmatism and diplomacy, synthesize, merge and transform existing data capabilities to address the digital transformation needs and requirements * Build efficient and scalable algorithms that answer questions about our data * Rapidly prototype statistical and quantitative analysis and work with IT and architecture teams to deliver them to production * Develop solutions that make data collection efficient and streamlined * Coordinate and organize data science projects from conception to completion * Provide technical leadership, learn and partner with other F5 teams Required Skills Experience and Qualifications: * Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience. * 5+ year experience with mathematics, statistical and quantitative analysis or machine learning * Real passion for solving real customer problems with data * Dedication to continuous improvement and early-stage product development * Curiosity that drives you to dig deeper and look at problems in different ways to find unique solutions to problems * Ownership of your work, and a desire to develop great analytics with the power to make the decisions to make it happen * Collaborative approach that allows you to explain complex solutions to technical and non-technical team members. * Experience with large data sets using tools like SQL, Hadoop, Spark, BigTable or DynamoDB * Experience coding in R, Python, Java, Go or similar language * Experience with data science frameworks such as TensorFlow, Spark/MLlib or similar #LI-CM2 The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
